With the new change that party members are priorized before minions my pet will never be healed in a zerg except from myself. This makes the pet die really fast, alot faster than players would. All these blast finishers in water fields don’t seem to affect my pet because in a zerg there are almost always players around which are priorized. This is a real issue in zerg situations. I see everyone around getting healed up by alot except my pet… and it dies because of that.
In my opinion either the pets should also get the HP buff like they got it in PvE or any heal (direct heal or waterfield combos) from other players that affects the ranger himself is also given to the pet. Otherwise no matter how tough you skill them the pets won’t stand a chance to survive in the middle of a zerg while the ranger himself survives it rather easily. And this is wrong. In situations where the tanky ranger would die everyone understands that also a tanky pet can die, but it shouldnt be that drakes or bears die where the ranger is constantly between 70-100% HP due to all the heals spread in the zerg.
My drake/bear pets have high toughness, high HP, permanent protection and about 750 passive heal per second in addition to my #6 heal. You can’t really do much more as a ranger to keep them alive.

To add even more insult to injury… when you use F2 in a zerg the pet itself doesn’t get buffed and even if you’re in range you aren’t a priority target yourself.

And this is only the least of pet problems in WvW :/

Yes this is even worse. Any buff from the pet should work on the ranger every time even if five people are closer to the pet.
I would even say the buffs should apply to the ranger no matter how far he is away but if this is too much for AreaNet at least make it so that if the ranger is in range of the skill he will be priorized.

I would REALLY like to see a change in porcine F2 ability maybe like a “square off” ability where it gives the ranger stability and if target moves the pig charges. Just saying this b/c of right now the ability is pretty much useless b/c even your enemies can pick up what it digs up, sooo no one ever uses it.

One other slight change does anyone else find it utterly annoying that everyone can out run your pet! How can a warrior in full Heavy Armor out run anything.

Maybe with the optimization that Dev’s talking about Pets will become useful again in the Lagwars that wvwvw has become, but right now. I wouldn’t go in there with a Ranger and follow a Blob around.

Right but I think most of us would like to give ANet more credit than imagining this was the pet’s intended purpose all along. The complete lack of feedback would beg to differ unfortunately.

More like the pet didn’t end up working in what WvW became (everything about the way they have handled WvW and the lag in it suggests they never imagined T1-2 situations) and they really just don’t care enough to think up practical solutions to the problem. We finally got another, much needed, HP buff to pets and it doesn’t even affect them in WvW, the one place they need it the absolute most.

In a zerg the best place for your pet is by your side. Put them on passive so they don’t charge into cc etc and melt. You really don’t need the damage from them, that’s what the zerg is for. I like to use my brown bear because he has shake it off and a lot of health. So u can actually pull condis from your group them shake em off. I really only tell him to attack runners that break off the zerg since they’re usually low on health and away from most of the aoe and what not. He can finish them and return to my side while I’m attacking other targets or supporting. You just have to be more tactical about pets in wvw. Good luck out there

there is always the “pro” players who have “no problem with the pet, ltp…”
dont believe them .. their pet is as kitten as yours…
they are just to rainbow eyed to except the fact that the Rangers F2 ability is the most kitten of all special abilities in game…
