I mostly play WvW as condi/trapper stealth ranger, and although my pets are a big help, I wish they can stay stowed when out of combat and when I get in combat. When I stealth to run away, it follows me and dies. First, does anyone have any advice for this? Second, I think rangers should have the option to turn off their pets instead of letting it just go into a mob and commit suicide. If it’s stowed while in combat, can’t I just command it to come out and fight when I WANT it to?

Other changes I want to see:
- Please save the names for all my pets.
- I think the pet dynamic has a lot more potential. Give players more control over their pets. I’m pretty sure if I command it to do its special, I can command it to do other things as well. Kind of like controlling two people at one. Also, I think it’ll be more helpful if the pet has it’s own condition/boon bar.
- Ok, and this is totally unnecessary and optional, but I think it’ll be cool if we tame a pet and train it?!
- When I do an emote, can my pets also do an emote?! I would like to see my Hound dance with me :|

All these have been suggested before… a lot. The stow won’t happen, devs don’t like rangers playing without their pets.

change to ranged pets while using traps , if you are in combat with ranged pets they won’t move far if they themselfs stay in range and won’t trigger anything near you while trying to use traps .

also if they are ranged and the opposing player chooses to attack your pet they will ether have to:

A : move to the pet allowing to build up some massive trap damage by waiting for cooldowns.
B: you can swap pets to second Ranged pet instantly giving you gap space.

C; your are using Devour/ Immbo spider , if he tries to close on the pet to stop the poison web or immobilise f2 that spider and get some easy traps planted.

it solves the pet following and dying also makes it easier for you to keep track where they are since trappers use kiting and camra angles where most of the time the pet is out of sight ether behind you or running behind you.

stowing pets unfortunatly will not happen to be a perm feature.

best bet is to try using a set of Ranged pets.

No. It’s not possible to keybind the stow button. It’s been my gripe for 1,777 hours and 38 minutes over the past 730 days on my Ranger. Also a gripe that I don’t have a keybind for stow/unstow. It’s obvious looking at the bar active/passive should be F4, and stow/unstow should be F5, and swap out pet should be F6.

RNG is a bell curve. Better hope you’re on the right side.

really? if they don’t like that ranger are playing without pets, why are they developing content against pets? The scarlet end-boss fight with the achievement not attacking while not colored for example. Or the scarlet marionette fight? Or jumping puzzles with bad camera and fat pet standing on your head? Or invisibility runes for trapper? Or championfights with one-hit-pet-killers? Or fortress in wvw (your pet can’t attack people on the wall, nor it can’t attack people on ground from wall)? Or countless other situation, when your pet get hit and slow you down, because you get into fightmode?

When i use the trapper runes in wvw, i get a ranged pet. They don’t die so fast and you let it attacking while fleeing. so the enemy don’t know which direction. And after death you’ve to stow the pet as fast as possible

Work Properly is a vague term. Give Pets more control and Add -50% Damage taken from AOE.

Or just give us a darn pet trait tree from there, I would just add all defenses to make my pet a living shield.

or.

Use a bear.

All pets, minions and turrets should take only 1/3rd damage from AoE skills. They don’t have their own AI to dodge or run out of the ring, and therefore they should take significantly less damage. I also think all pets/minions/turrets should have their own base stats as they do now and scale with all of the masters stats. Rangers should allow for additional scaling via Beast Mastery. Pet Attribute Bonus should not give a flat stat increase, but should increase how much each skill scales up to 30% additional scaling. Each pet should have their own scaling.

Example: A bear should scale with Power and Vitality more then a Moa. The Bear gets 30% of your Vitality, 20% of your Power and 30% of your Healing Power. 2 Points in Beast Mastery increases it to 40% Vitality, 30% Power and 40% Healing Power. The Moa only has 20% Vitality and 15% Power but gets 60% Healing Power. With Beast Mastery it gets 30% Vitality, 25% Power and 70% Healing Power.

I also think Ranger pets need a more advanced Pet skill bar. It should include Aggressive, Defensive and Passive modes, the ability to use all 4 pet skills directly with the auto skill acting as the Attack button, pet swap, pet boon/condition bar and the ability to stow your pet and re-summon it.

I think Rangers should have the option to keep pets stowed even in combat. Part of the Rangers scaling and stats are balanced based on the pet and if a Ranger wants to sacrifice those extra stats by choosing to not use the pet ANet should allow it. They should not create traits that support not using a pet, but they should give players the option.

The biggest thing I think all pets/minions/turrets of this list is the reduced AoE damage and scaling with all of the masters stats. It took Blizzard a long time to make Hunter pets scale, but it made a huge difference. ANet needs to do the same!
