I’ve spent not one point on beast mastery. Do I miss something with that?

Pet’s play a big part in your overall dps/damage, so having points in BM like 15 is recommended but not necessary, I run a full 30 in BM because I like pets, and IRL I have many animals that are important to me. But the reason I put 30 in BM is I am a melee ranger and well, since my pets will be along side me they get hit often, thus the need for keeping them alive through 30 BM.

Nothing really besides pet damage and survivability. You can easily get through the game without a single point in it.

…but I have to say that personally – BM all the way, just fits my style of play!

Depends on your play style, but if at all possible I’d put 5 points in for quickness on pet swap. It’s worth it even after the quickness nerf.

Essentially this. Don’t go sending melee pets, especially squishy ones like birds, into a melee fight without expecting them to get walloped.
