would love rare versions of the pets, like those spirit pets in Orr and things like that. Possibly with new abilities but that’s not required. Part of the fun of taming was being able to tame those that were challenging to get to or required a special strategy to obtain. Would love to see this expanded. Right now this system is okay, but it really lacks what made it fun for me in the games that had taming.

I’m a simple guy with simple tastes – a couple more varieties of hunting dog would be cool. Same powers as the Drakehound, just different looks, since that’s a fairly distinctive dog.

Beyond that, I’d be happy with just more species that are already in the game being added. Especially some of the large herbivores – Moose, Dolyak, Deer. Or some of the small ones! Have you seen the bunnies at the Rabbit Shrine in Wayfarer’s Foothills? Those things are mean. Monty Python Mean. If my little Raven can peck dragons to death, an angry bunny can jump-kick ’em in the junk.

I loved my Gorilla in WoW. I named it Humpy. No one likes a Humpy Monkey slapping them about. The trollrage it generated was rather hilarious.

Any kind of DPS ranged pet. Both of the ranged pets atm are baseline power/crit, with either extra Vit or Toughness. Dungeons would benefit a lot from having a high-crit ranged pet, so it would benefit from the heal-on-crit trait in skirmishing.

1. Real dragons with wings that ignore pathing and flies over everyone, not slow fat ugly lizards. F2: Ride on Dragon and shoot everybody in the air
2. Mammoth thats as big as a node. F2: Charge to target location and instantly crush and kill all puny thieves you pass
3. Gorillas (WHERE ARE THE GORILLAS?!)
4. Turtles – i like turtles.

I would like Rockdog, griffon, skelk, skale and raptors for pets. And a pack of 20 piranahs, orca and a dolphin for my aquatic pets.

Armadillo, there are some wandering around in the charr zones, but aren’t tamable. Would make a great defensive pet and they could give it an ability where it rolls into a ball and slams into the enemy :P

Crab, the ones in game are really tough and seem like they would make great defensive pets. I would name it Citizen Snips.

Skelk, they have that cool shadowstep ability that would be awesome in PvP, and they are already semi-aquatic so they would work under water too (need more aquatic pets). Skelk would probably be at the top of my list as a PvP pet.

Skale, similar to skelk, they are small, vicious and semi-aquatic. Would think they would make great pets since they are like little raptors, plus they have health regeneration. I would much rather have one of these than a raptor personally.

Crab, just because i want a little crab scuttling along beside me. Skelks and Skales would be great too. I would take a crab and a skelk and make underwater puns every time i kill someone.

I lourved my crab from Gw1.

i want non juvenile versions but with same stats. i want my pets to look like a threat. seriously bears are awesome but a ADULT MALE BEAR 7-10 FT tall pls i want this even if they have the same stats as the originals.

I can’t believe ONLY ONE PERSON has said Dolyak. Raptors and crabs would be neat too, but mainly I want a dolyak- A little poofy baby one would be enough!

In lieu of that, I love the rock dogs the centaurs have, and the thorn wolves the Nightmare Court has. The bad guys get the cool pets.

I’d definitely like to see those Armadillos become tameable. They even look like they were meant to be pets when it comes to size and looks. They’re too different from actual Armadillos to be just a critter.

Some more varieties of Fish pets would be nice too. It’s rather sad how Armored Fish is the only member of its class. Plus, some of the fish mobs look downright scary. O.o

It would also be nice if they brought the Rainbow Phoenix back as a special pet you could only charm in the HoM if you unlocked it in GW1.

I’d like a gorilla. They’ve got the body model for the risen type, so let’s see the live sort too. Oh, and a tanky turtle and a parrot since ANet seem to want to dress my ranger like a pirate.

I’m not in favour of dolyaks though. I know they’re tough, but can you imagine being in a narrow area and it blocking your line of sight all the time?

Rangers must be pansies. All I see in Ranger forum are all these posts requesting new pet animals, pet names, and other pet crap. How about actually improving on some of the major aspects of Ranger skills, Pet skills, and weapons, etc? Seems more interesting of a subject to me. LOL

then you havent actually looked at the ranger forum, while pet names and pet types are important to us, i would say 90% of the posts on the ranger forums are complaining/requesting/offering suggesstions for the changes you are talking about

as well as the fact that pets are our PRIMARY CLASS MECHANIC so imagine a class forum talking alot about there primary class mechanic.

I’d like to be able to have two of the same pet species, and I’d like to be able to colorize pets or have a few additional selectable skins.

Some fantastic ideas, guys, and my favourite ideas so far from you all is definitely the Gorilla idea – would it be tanky or straight up damage?

Obviously there was always going going to be a few immature people trying to de-rail this thread with snarky remarks like ‘pets that work’, amongst others.

Just ignore these people and try to stay on topic, please.

Also, fair play to those of you suggesting that future pets need to actually reside in Tyria in the first place. I totally agree, but also think any idea can be written into the lore books if cool enough.

Finally, we have lots of big cats available, would you like to use a Lion/Tiger over leopards etc?

EDIT: It just struck me, and this is weird, that there hasn’t been a Tiger-themed Pokemon yet, lol. I mean, what the hell is up with that?

There IS actually a pet fighting arena already in Lion’s Arch, but you can’t do anything with it at the moment. I’m guessing that one day it will become a mini-game similar to Kegbrawl or Polymock.

Moose would be awesome! Or griffons (mostly I just want a colocal), or the basilisk.

Part of the reason I came up with the idea of Pet skins is because I think it would be great to have different types of dogs as an option. I agree it would be awkward to add 5 different dog pets, but to have the base dog pet with its skill but the opportunity to look like any number of domesticated or wild dogs would be great…IE CHIHUAHUA.

Alpine Stalker
Skales and Shelks
Hermit Crab

Raptors
Scorpion Fish (especially the glowing Deep Sea variety)

Whatever Risen Fish are prior to being turned (obviously an actual Risen Fish would be wierd, but they look cool so I imagine whatever they’re based on would also look cool)

Moose aren’t really on my list of wants personally, but I certainly wouldn’t complain about them being added. That goes for pretty much any animal in the game really, even if I don’t nessicarily want them I’d be happy just to see more get added.

F2 Skill – Rush toward enemy, enemies in line get pushed toward targeted enemy.

any ideas how these beasts are called the charr use as mules sometimes? they could look quiet intimidating.
