Poison Master builds
I came up by not using it because it is a troll trait.
I’ve used it with Axe/Dagger + GS with a Jungle Spider (F2 is poison one), Cave Spider (F2 is weakness) with hydromancy sigils, chilling sigils on my axe, Grenth Runes, Rage Sigil on my GS running a 2/0/6/0/4 trait set up (can’t remember if my last 2 points were in WS, BM or marks) with Rampagers amulet, it maintained perma chill, weaknessess, cripple, and poison, paired with GS it made it very tanky in 1v1s while not really giving up damage.
It was more of a Duelist/Roamer build than a team fighting build, and it fulfilled that role quite nicely, it’s still in the “alpha” stages of my build making process so it is hardly optimized, but it works.

hmmm thinking something same lines then. been running. gs, sw/da. 2/6/6 set up. celestial amulet and strength runes. gives great amount of dmg and condi dmg. tripple signet is slots for regen speed n condi removal.

You should never run poison pets with a poison master build. The pet’s poison skills are incredibly weak and doesn’t scale with the trait. The poison that is added to the pet by the trait (on swap) is different and from what I’ve seen and I believe it scales with the ranger.
Using spiders with PM is a massive damage loss as your pet will use up poison slots that would normally be used by the ranger’s stronger poison skills.

No, he won’t, because the way it works is that the stronger poison overrides the weaker, this means my poison will tick before his.
ALSO, idc about the poison damage that much, that’s not why I take the trait, that’s just a bonus. I take the trait to drown them in poisons, the reason I take Rampagers gear was because I figured I may as well benefit from it, I mean I may even just shift over to zerker gear with the build.
Also I take the poison spider because intimidation training procs off all of those 3 poison charges which gives them about 22s of cripple.
The build I use the trait with doesn’t go for max condi damage, the poison is nice, and I like it constantly ticking, but the goal is to just completely debilitate the enemy and leave them incapable if fighting back, which it does flawlessly.

This is untrue, I just tested it.
If you don’t believe me go into the mists and let the spider poison your enemy. Mine poison ticks for 334, his ticks for 84. So I let him attack first to start the 84 dmg ticks then immediately used serpent strike right after.
He ticked for 84 for the complete duration of my spider’s applied poison before the 334 ticks came into play.
Poison is applied by source and duration. So if your spider ticks 5 seconds of 84 and y you apply 7 seconds on top of that. The poison will need to go 5 seconds before your stack kicks in.
This makes the spider total trash for a poison build. Also if the enemy clears the poison before your stack kicks in, you just lost all your damage.

That is good you tested it. It is a pretty big deal.

Yeah this is a dealbreaker for any pet poisons, as they will just push your stronger poisons to the back of the line when they are applied and they tick with a condition damage coefficient of zero (300 with expertise training, which pushes the damage from 83 to like 150, which is still bad).

I’m testing this when I get home because conditions aren’t supposed to work this way so says Anet, and the Wiki. I’d suggest you submit a bug report as well.
Also, that doesn’t really hurt my build, infact all it means is I’m going to change my amulet to Zerker since most my damage was physical anyway, and if my poison isn’t ticking for what it should no point in buffing it since I took PM mainly for the perma poison aspect.

been playing round with this trait seeing if anyone else has what theyve come up with!
This build is slightly different than the one I run in tPvP, but I wanted to share it since you asked about the PM trait.
I was using this in tPvP last night with great success. I was able to bunker on a point and survive 1vs2’s no problem until the rest of my team arrived or I until I kept them busy while my team capped the other points. It is also a decent 1vs1 build. Most people I went up against I was able to beat them especially if it was 1vs1.
I’m sure there will be a few people asking why I was using these weapon sets with very little condition damage, but any experienced player will recognize the trick to this setup.
