What are they? I made a new level 80 Ranger.

1) Guardian
2) Warrior
3) Mesmer

All great builds for a ranger wanting to run dungeons. (I’m joking but it was going to be said eventually)

More seriously though, I’d actually like to know the answer to this as well. I think it’s finally time I started doing dungeons (800+ hours and only a few story modes done) and I’m not going to play anything but my ranger anyway.

First of all, aren’t you supposed to build around the playstyle you want and you enjoy?
I understand that you might be at a loss here not knowing much about the class you are playing, even I’ve played quite a lot and still know nothing.

I am at the moment going with 10/25/30/0/5 and all my equipment is what you’d call “Rabid” – Precisionn/Thoughness/Condition Damage. I can’t go into much detail about skills nor weapons because as I said I’m still trying out and I often change pet/skills according to boss I am fighting, for example I don’t use fire trap on last boss of TA instead I use Sun Spirit – this is one of the most obvious ones.

But a few notes about it.
Sigils on weapons that are “60% on crit does this and that” work great because all the precision you have.
And never let your pet die, thus knowing the bosses is required. You will lose not only your pet’s damage but the quickness burst too.
And last, shortbows are kinda cool.

I would make sure to have a good amount of toughness one way or another. The other stats would vary based on your play style, i.e. whether you’re leaning more towards dps or conditions. If you don’t stat toughness and aren’t very proficient at evasion, you’re going to be easy-pickings for bosses that can one-shot you either directly or via AoE, and if you’re getting downed and need getting rezzed all the time, some groups may kick you if they feel you’re the weakest link, if they don’t discriminate against your profession from the get-go (which apparently has been happening).

A trapper (ice, spike) with pet’s mighty roar and fury (moa) + WH is a good contribution to the group, imo.
So at you need 30p in skirmishing. Also i love the piercing arrows from marksmanship (20p).

Full Glass Canon Berserker Build with Superior Rune of the Ranger.
2x Shortbows with Sigil of Strength.

All I do is stay on the move with my weapon swapping (for swiftness+fury) and buffed evasion regen.

Works great on most dungeons.

Not so great Fractals 10+.

20 – Nature protection and nature’s bounty
30 – speed training, commanding voice, natural regeneration

Fern hound and Red Moa for group regen/fury. You can heal the group, add some buffs, and stay alive longer than most everyone else. You and pet rez dead group members.

Groups I run dungeons with like it.

Longbow glass cannon dps build with utilities for evasion and quickness, yeah I stay in the back.

You don’t do dungeons with ranger.
Get a warrior or guardian.

The beauty of the game is to create a build that you like, so I’ll help you make your own build.

Traps, Healing Spring and WH #5 and torch are great adds to a group in dungeons since it gives a good AoE, fields and support, so we have good part of our skills and weapon.

Builds around traps are better with condition damage and we need to survive the fights to keep causing damage and support, so we have part of our main stats Condition Damage and Toughness/Vitality

Short bow cause bleeding and poison, axe cause bleeding and chill and also have natural AoE, sword cause bleeding, poison cripple and gives mobility, pick 2 of those weapons according to your playstyle.

Now we need to see our traits, to fully use traps 30 in skirmishing is almost required so lets see what else we can add based in some playstyles:

• If you want more precision, use main shortbow, add 20 in MM for piercing arrow and 5 points in BM for the quickness on pet swap.
• If you want more condition damage, balance between SB and Axe/Sword, invest in WS with things like martial mastery, off-hand training (great with a torch)
• If you want more survivability, invest a bit in NM and BM or heavy on BM for the healing and add some healing bonus in your gear and pick traits that help your pet.

The game is still in early stage, maybe some builds wasn’t found yet, try things out and be happy playing it, be sure that you’ll end playing better with a “weaker” build that you like than with a “stronger” build that you hate.

For dungeons I always go full 30 markanship(particularly for SOS 6 sec infuln so it affects me as well), 30 in wilderness survival and the rest in nature magic.

Toughness is paramount for dungeons in my opinion. You do not want to get glass cannon-save that for wvw. Also, I like to have QZ equipped for quick reviving.

‘popular’ ’dungeon’’ranger’. Three words you are unlikely to ever see together.

Unless you are going with a guild group or a group of friends, don’t expect to be picked up – they will take almost anyone else instead of you, even kicking you from group in favour of almost any other class if it becomes available.
