Hey there

After the Nerfing to my beloved Ranger, I have rolled a Thief and Guardian.

The Thief because I’ve always liked playing DPS and enjoy the mobility and a Guardian because I think it is last in the list to get hit by the ANET NERF bat. I would
have rolled a Warrior but based on ANET’s track record, they are next in line for some paddy-whacks.

Just curious as to what other Rangers are rolling. Please share.

Elementalist. If I’m going to be underpowered, I at least want to feel like a pro doing it. xD

I think Warrior is a safe bet, they are what the balance team plays.

Personally I tried some alts but I am just not feeling it.

Mesmer: I actually have a Mesmer at the same Level as my Ranger from before the nerfs but the PvP community whining is slowly getting that nerfed every patch even though it is pretty bad at general PvE. I’m holding out hope that it doesn’t get too bad but after the Shrotbow nerf who knows what they will do to classes anymore.

Warrior: Currently at level 30 and it kinda depresses me to be honest. The only thing my Ranger can do that my Warrior can’t is traps. Everything else the Warrior can do better. Hell even though he is so many levels under my Ranger it is already beginning to crit for the same amount of damage my Ranger can do. So everytime I play my warrior it just feels like I have wasted all my time since head start.

Engineer/Theif: Not actually tried these (well I have an Asura Engineer at lowish levels) but for various reasons playing any medium armour class I really want to use the same looks/story choices and prob even name as my Ranger. I also kind of have my heart set on making a Skritt Engineer at some point, even though they will probably never become playable. So I just can’t bring myself to play these classes at the moment.

I also tried carrying on with my Ranger to at least get her to Orr to farm for me but the lackluster weapons pretty much make it feel like I am just pressing buttons to pass the time till my Eagle or Cat does the actual work.

Elementalist has by far been more fun than my Ranger (level 80, exotic-geared) ever was. It’s really hard to express how much more enjoyable it is. I am currently level 59. Thief was also quite fun (only level 20 so far). Ranger just feels completely drab in comparison, and going back to her to farm in Orr is like pulling teeth.

Maybe I should try Elementalist, need an AoE spammy class for when I want to Zerg in WvWvW, now do I want another human or a another Sylvari… hmmmm

Since I already have an additional lvl 80 Warrior I started a Thief.

This is the only way for me to always have a decent ranged hero to play.
Since we all have seen what Anet has done to the Rangers and I’m used to rock-paper-scissors-vicious-nerfing-circles I think this is the best thing for me to do as a dedicated ranged dps player.

Mesmer – up to level 27 already and I was even busy over the weekend!

I wanted to play a complex class – the class I thought I was getting with a ranger.

Well, throughout the course of the Nerfings I got increasingly dissatisfied with my Ranger. After the last patch, I was done. So I made a Guardian, because I liked the concept and it really appeals to me, it’s a mix of a support, damage, and it is very survivable. I also made an Engineer, which was the class I originally planned to play pre-BWE3. I enjoy both very much, but I do hope that ANet comes to their senses and un-nerfs the Ranger.

Im trying thief atm and the damage is almost rediculous compared to ranger but quite frankly Im not really interested in any other class, Ill probably just play swtor till its fixed.

Working on a sword/sword (sometimes warhorn) and rifle Warrior with conditions/support, considering a pistol Engineer as well.

Kinda nice being able to keep a consistent 8-10 bleeds up while providing heals and a range of boons for allies, not to mention noticeable chunks of damage instead of a slow crawl across the target’s health bar.

HA I made this double sword bleed build last night and its quite strong, no idea what I was doing trait wise so I winged it and came up with gold. Its quite nice having 10 stacks of bleeds last 20 seconds. flurry still kinda sucks tho.

Thief and loving it. Better roamer, better burst, better battle control, better AOE defense of tower.. not going back unless the nerf bat swings the other way. Not playing the faceroll build so I hope my thief sticks around. The +25% run speed signet should have been given to a ranger..

Going Guardian.
Ranger will always be my main and even with the “fix/nerf” I still feel like we are one of the best classes in the game.

I started an alt for every class just to mess around a bit. So far I am liking guard and ele the best.

I’m loving GS and staff on my guardian, there are some great 2H buffing builds floating around based around might stacking that I can’t wait to try.

I have a warrior alt I am enjoying, rifle looks and plays great, also has better mechanics than our long bow, bleed from anywhere, nice cripple and a BIG combo shot. Then in melee I swap to my Final Fantasy “Sword as big as a surf board” and even if I dont kill my foe…..I love the animations as I wield this 9ft of steel like a rapier.

Gone back to my warrior main. Also rolled a couple new characters to widen my crafting. I took the nerf particularly hard because I was right in the middle of gearing the ranger full exotic. The warrior is just all-around solid, and everyone knows it, so I’m glad I could fall back on it.

Not a response to the change as SB was effective but boring and at worst remains boring but….

Pretty much leaves thief or elementalist or I’ll just quit playing the game.

Well i’m playing engineer now, but i swapped more because ranger was being boring and easy, not because it wasn’t working.

If I can’t out-DPS a Thief, than by Melandru I’m going to keep him and his full Berserker-geared behind alive!

FYI, Healing Spring and Spirit of Nature’s Renewal are stupidly amazing.

I think I might try an engineer. I am not one to have a lot of alts. If this does not get fixed soonish I might just stop playing GW2.

Playing between an engineer and thief (I like the engineer the most though now), but I do still use my ranger for dungeon runs with my guild.

My warrior is now lvl 22 and rolling things with GS/Rifle. I can rush into a group of 5 mobs with a veteran in the middle and kill all the adds with 100 blades, then switch to rifle and kite to finish the veteran barely taking any dmg.

Gotta say it’s fun destroying things, and I love the look of greatswords. It really makes me hope that the Ranger greatsword gets a buff to be on par with the warrior at some point.

Don’t feel any other class. Tried a warrior, didn’t make myself play it after lvl 2. Same with thief – it’s just not my style. Elems, necros, mesmers belong to magic kind – hate it. What’s left? Engineer with 3 weapons – didn’t like it at all with all these boom/explode shi*. So, i just don’t know what to do. Probably i should try a guardian but i don’t think i can play a melee class with pleasure.

Why did you create such a weak and boring ranger, Anet? Warriors by definition can’t be better rangers! Wtf?

Get back to my lv67 theif, kill almost any single target every 45 sec in wvw with much better mobility. But that’s really boring…..

Since 10/7 I’ve made a thief and got to about lvl 70… so far so good. It does everything I liked about the ranger… just, you know, better.

My new warrior is only lvl 25, but I’m really starting to like it even more than the thief. I went into sPvP with it to play around with max level builds and whatnot, it’s truly amazing to play.

I’m almost certain I’ll end up maining the warrior.

im currently playing a GS mesmer. it’s like the longbow ranger, except i have more survivability, more dps, more burst, more AOE and more utility. all of mesmer’s abilities and weapons are useful. the ranger has signets and a few survival skills. shouts, spirits, traps are all useless in pvp.

until spirits, pets, the GS, and the SB are useful once again, i’ll be away from the class.
