Post balance: what will you do first?
Lawnmower people with Signets+QZ+RF of course! Next will be enjoying the sword damage buff in some dungeons. I have little to no interest in the axe; I don’t think that level of might will do much. Maybe in some team fights in PvP.
I’ll turn on the sword auto attack & test if I can move around things & dodge well. (I guess the hope dies last) :d
@Fluffball
Ha, I think pure physical DPS will be a very nice, welcome option for many Rangers :P I may just go after thieves in WvW as they tend to be the ones who party invite/whisper me with some incredibly vulgar language if I manage to kill them……
I’m going to try to see if I can make the might stacks on the axe amount to anything by fiddling with different runes and whatever, but I think you might be right in that the 3 second stacks could just prove to be insignificant
@Sina
Ha, do you mean the 1h sword or the GS? I may try out the GS auto for the sake of pure damage, otherwise I’m pretty terrible at maneuvering with it >.>
Like most people I’ll probably go dust off my berserker gear and go troll around with the LB. Probably followed by messing around with the axe. I’m a hybrid fan and might stacking on a hybrid build is twice as much fun so.. worth playing with. Something like this I think

Gonna test to see if the GS changes make it usable for small scale WvW over sword/dagger.

I ran a shortbow sw/wh zerker build with 0/2/0/6/6 Owl, Wolf. It was really good for stacking might on pet. Might mix some rampager in there, and mess around with rending barbs probably. 20 stacks on my owl and bleed on his autoattack will be a boost to the damage I was already able to put out with him. If I hade full ascended celestial build it would even be better, but I just can’t be bothered to grind for that.

Chilli pepper poppers are amazing for this build. It either applies chilled a lot for my owl to hit, or adds might to the owl. Will be nice with rending attacks even with 0 condi damage on pet.

adapt my build Swap signet of the beastmaster for Predators onsalught and change Steady focus of Predators instinct.
Ellos 20sec cripple barrges+entangle with SotW.
Probably hop onto my Mesmer and use scepter until the forum whine eventually kills it.
After that hop onto my Ranger. Nothing we have heard will probably change my builds but it does provide them with some pretty big buffs. Maybe pick her up some Runes of Strength

I think MH axe is going to become the go-to weapon for pet-focused builds. The might that Fortifying Bond transfers to your pet is a flat 10 sec. So if you’ve got 2+ targets, axe will easily max out your pet at 25 might stacks (3 might/atk * 1 atk/sec * 10 sec = 30 stacks of might sustained). No need to mess around with Rampage as One and WH 4.
I rarely use RaO, and for the stability when I do. Axe could be a thing with dagger offhand. Might try that out. I think shortbow with quickness will still be better dps. What could be good for my build is another chill from axe main. However I’ll be without a daze. We’ll see.

im look foreword to trying intimidation training and birds and long bow spikes
What are you looking forward to trying out?
Since I’m an avid WvW roamer I’m keen to dust off my full zerk gear/build and see how much damage spike I can stack up with SotW + QZ + RtW + Rapid Fire. For the most part I probably won’t be rolling with QZ, but it’ll be interesting to see the effects of that spike. I’m also keen just to see the effects of zerg-surfing with longbow auto-attack at 900+ range with the additional RtW 10% attack speed and QZ. Longbow AA + QZ is already incredibly viable for a zerg sniper to pick-off enemy zerg stragglers (and pre-patch I’d especially not recommend wasting QZ on rapid fire), but that little extra 10% might spice it up even more.
I’ll also be keen to see how the axe might affects my usual a/d s/t condi bunker build, but not until I’ve satiated my lust for other peoples’ QQ with the DPS buff of course.
Will also get around to making a build similar to the longbow power/toughness meta and see what can be done with the updates there.
I cannot express how psyched I am for the axe buff.. I personally roam as a trapper and have never gotten good enough to use the sword. I love mainhand axe despite it’s poor damage and use it more for it’s #2 and 3 skills before swapping back to my shortbow. But when the patch goes live I’ll have a lot more reason to camp axe/torch since I’ll be stacking might. I tend to experiment with builds on which ever profession I play, getting a taste for everything the profession has to offer, before finding one I like and settling on it for a very long time. My Necromancer’s maximum condition build has remained unchanged for 6+ months now and my Ranger’s full trapper build has been the same for nearly as long. Having buffs that will benefit a build you love and are comfortable with is very exciting and small though it may be, I’m over the moon knowing I’ll be able to boost my condition damage via might stacking after the changes go through. -Girly scream-
Oh and I almost forgot to mention; I was sifting through viable runes/sigils for the axe changes and I came across these http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Rune_of_the_Aristocracy
Since I run full condition (Dire/Rabid) I think these will work very nicely for might stacking (:

First thing i will do will be running 5 zerker rangers in low ranked team queue.
As long as people fail to exit line of sight it should be fun.
My ranger has been sitting at level 35 for a long while, I guess I’ll be leveling by then.

It’d be pretty fun to see something like that played out in GW2. Have a team of longbow rangers grouped up. Target someone, then count down on the voice chat and then switch to the targetted enemy with QZ + rapid fire, lol.

I cannot wait to try QZ + rapid fire, especially with signet of the wild’s 25% damage boost and stability, not to mention the additional 10% attack speed increase from read the wind.
Now, I’m not good at maths so I could be wrong here, but on top of the new 2.5 second cast time for rapid fire, the 60% increase in attack speed from QZ + RtW will mean that that 2.5 seconds will be 60% quicker (i.e. 1.5 seconds less casting time), meaning a total cast time for rapid fire of exactly 1 second.
If this works out to be true then it’s going to be reaaalllly fun to roll in Ranger groups.

Signet of Stone is the answer ;D
I can see a group of rangers in WvW timing Rapid Fire + SotW + SoS + QZ with piercing arrow and then running for their lives, but with bags dropping on their feet all around haha
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

Attack speed is the inverse of attack duration. So a 100% increase in attack speed (double the attack speed) results in:
100% (regular speed) + 100% (speed increase) = 200% = 2.0
1/2.0 = 0.5 = 50% of original attack duration
So a 60% increase in attack speed will result in 1/1.6 = 62.5% of original attack duration.
Or 2.5 sec becomes 1.56 sec
LB autoattack is currently a 0.9 coefficient over 1 sec, or 0.9 coeff/sec.
Raipd Fire is currently a 3.75 coefficient over 4.5 sec = 0.83 coeff/sec.
If it’s reduced to 2.5 sec with the same coefficient, it becomes 3.75/2.5 = 1.5 coeff/sec.
Add in QZ+RtW and it becomes 1.56 sec, or 3.75/1.56 = 2.4 coeff/sec.
Add in the 25% damage bonus from SoW and you get 1.25*2.4 = 3 coeff/sec.
That’s gonna be a real nice burst. Especially if you have a GS with a sigil of intelligence.
- Pop SoW and QZ
- RF for 3 coeff/sec for 1.56 sec (4.68 coeff)
- swap to GS
- Swoop (1.25 coeff w/ SoW + 100% crit)
- Maul (1.875 coeff w/ SoW + 100% crit)
- And if there’s anything left, hit Counterattack (1.625 coeff w/ SoW + 100% crit if the target attacks you, 1.25 coeff w/ SoW + 100% if the target tries to flee)
That’s a grand total of 9.055-9.43 coeff + guaranteed crits in about 4 sec (3.73s, but add a little to swap weapons). 2.26-2.36 coeff/sec + whatever the guaranteed crits give you.
I was playing around last night with Path of Scars as an opener (2x 1.2 coefficient), then swapping to GS w/ intelligence for the above combo, and it was pretty sick. Able to kill most mobs in 4 sec (a third of them died before the Maul).
Yea I’m thinking of adding in one of great sword or long bow into my lineup but not sure which… They are both getting great buffs. Probably gs since longbow needs so many traits for full effect.

Not sure how long it’ll last, but I have an itch to run this build in a WvW zerg after the patch.
I’m not 100% on the gear (I’ll probably need more knights gear or something with more sustain), but I figure with the changes to longbow and axe, this should give decent ranged damage to help in zergs. At the same time, it should also contribute with spirit rezes in tough spots, AoE poison when attacking, and of course, the water field. The spirit will likely get burnt down fast, but in tough clashes you could still get off some clutch rezes. At the same time, you have the stability from Sig of Wild to get through pushes.
Maybe it’ll still be crap, but I’m looking forward to giving it a shot at least. =P
