Sometimes I’m visiting this crowdy dueling server EU side, and have just had the joy of making a montage from two recent fight nights vs capable foes. The build I’m running is quite stronk allround, much thanks to S&D evades/mobility for lasting encounters. As 1v1s go, you lose some, you win some, but Rangers surely are in a decent spot with certain builds.

I do have a nasty habbit of using a dodge/evasive skill too often, need to hone that trigger finger, while other times its done to predict a possible attack

Great video, its funny how LB rangers strating to run WS/NM/BM, reminds me how 6 mounts after the the big LB patch(with the fast RP), LB rangeres started to run the -2-0-6-6-0 setup. I guss rangers jsut work better when traited for defence.
The reason you dont use taunt is personal preference or its just not allowed on 1v1 servers?

For quality of life longbow flow i prefer MM over NM, but the latter is better overall vs competent builds that gets close on you. Even though NM gives u defense u sort of do equal damage. I didnt use taunt since they banned it from that server, claiming it is bugged. The zephyrs speed can be nice though for that surprise burst.

WS NM BM is very solid in duels / PvP with some great minor traits. There is very little utility in MM and Skirmishing and the minor traits aren’t that great. Also, Longbow now has 1500 range and the projectile speed baseline, so even with Longbow there is less reason to pick MM.

Skirmishing isn’t even good in WvW for Longbow. You’re better off with Fury(20%) than Spotter(7%) + Hunter’s Tactics(10%) and you don’t even have to worry about flanking.

Marksmanship is still good in WvW for Longbow and can replace Beastmastery because pets aren’t useful in all situations there.

I agree, first day after the patch i was trying a crazy build with skrimisihng, on the second day i changed for WS,NM,BM, havn’t changed it since.

Skirmishing is GREAT in wvw with longbow and s/d. The quick draw trait is too valuable for escapes. I run skirmishing, BM, and WS in wvw or BM, WS, NM. I find that I survive better on skirmishing because there’s no “unspoken” boundary as how far I can run like on a dueling server or in tpvp. I have free reign to kite as much as I want and how far I want. So skirmishing benefits me more in that sense in wvw. This is speaking in the roaming sense. Not zerging.

Both of them proccing at 50% health really turns the tide of the fight in my direction. I use alot of quickness with my sw/d because the auto attack is very fast and crits 1.5-2k on enemies probably every half second. If you guys want a viable build for pvp that uses sw/d, i strongly recommend my build.

I dumped skirmishing for bm for now. Bird pets are absurd.

I use the exact same traits in WvW, but use Allies’ Aid instead of Instinctive Reaction, which I just find a fun toy to have. I haven’t even tried Instinctive Reaction to be honest.
