'Protect Me' questions
guess why it’s such a bad skill :P
Most times you die before it has any effect or the pet is dead anyway.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
Me and the guild has a tournie going on and I have Healing Spring, Protect me, Move speed signet, Regen signet and entangle in my slots. 3.3k armor with 900 healing power makes my almost invincible when standing in healing spring. Some duels got me to very low health and I had about 5-7 seconds left on Healing Spring so I popped my panic button “Protect Me” after switching to my spider and gladly stood still to let people hit me while they got burned by my bonfire which does ober 5k damage in total.
The pet did not get killed and I popped my healing spring, the fight continued. In some matches I even used protect me twice because I could guess when my opponent would do his spike. I know my pet has over 30k health and it ain’t dieing.
I hardly ever use ‘Protect Me’ simply from my own stubborn joy of other utilities.
Do you know of any undocumented quirks with Protect Me?
- End prematurely when pet dies?
- Does anything else cause it to end prematurely?
- I hear condition damage still goes to you, even if they are applied while Protect Me is in use.
Thanks.
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.

It’s not too popular because the jaguar is such a popular choices for a pet and it dies like a kitten from protect me.
I run dual canines and it works out fine.
But I also run a lil quirky condition build, axe/dagger and carrion instead of the usual sword torch and rabid.
Pets stop attacking while Protect Me is active, keep that in mind. At least that was how it worked last time I used it, which was quite a while ago.
I’ve also heard, but never confirmed this myself, that there’s a maximum range limit between you and your pet for it to work.
I’m also not sure whether the damage the pet takes during this time, is reduced counted on their armor, or the rangers armor? The first one sounds more logical.
Consider using Shout Mastery if you need this skill, and traited Signet of stone, for 6+6 seconds of invul, then only 36 seconds before you can have another 6 seconds of invulnerability again. That’s a total of 18 seconds of invul within the course of 54 seconds. If your pet doesn’t die, that is
