[PvP] Looking For a Rabid Trap Build

If noones answered by tomorrow I’ll try give some help, being a trap enthusiast^^
I’ll leave it for now because I don’t play PvP, at least not seriously, so I am not 100% sure which variations are better for the PvP environment rather than the roaming / dueling environment.

Edit: Made a mistake in the first build; had a wrong sigil equipped on the shortbow.

Personally, I use that. Three traps, when it sounds fun and Chilling trap can be powerful with your projectile finisher set (Axe+Dagger), you can take only 2 in my opinion. Third slot is a stunbreak. Signet most of the times, but can be also Reflex if enemy runs thieves only (?).
If you want more control, you can replace either Flame or Spike trap with Freezing trap, but well…. It’s surely amazing against fotm D/D facerolling eles, because every chill will be helpful once they swap out of water.
But let’s be honest, you’ll mostly engage Thieves. Chill is broken on them and you need pressure. So I take damage.
Forget about bows. They’re piece of morning delight.
You can choose your pet though. I like River Drake because it cleaves AI clutter, has F2 taking half of mesmer’s/engineer’s health and is very durable.
Other options are Spiders and Pigs. I wouldn’t suggest DPS pets like birds or cats because they die quickly, die from your Bond and won’t hit anything if they’re slowed anyway. Dead weight on this setup.

Those trap builds are decent (and have been around a while, oh how I remember when this was the best spec for ranger ^^ ) but the build lacks one important feature… Stun breaks. Honestly, I’d drop frost trap – no point to use it, long cooldown with such a low amount of chill, use lightning reflexes instead and get some vigor uptime in there as well as a stun break / immobilization removal. Like against alot of classes, you need atleast one stun break to win especially with a trap build otherwise they’ll just abuse that fact that you have none once they realize you run trip traps (good players will notice it too). The traited stun break isn’t enough and is on a high cooldown as it is, but it’s good to have too.

If there’s any trap to drop in the spec I posted, it would be spike trap. Frost trap is the most powerful trap we have. Its a large ice field with 5 pulses of 2 second chills (10s total, not counting cd duration) on a 24 second cooldown. That is very powerful.
But like I said before, there isn’t a standard trap build and you can play around all you want.
