Axe is op, deals sick dmg and should be considered a standard pick for every Ranger who wants to do PvE!
Before you start flaming and raging read and watch, if you then still think i’m false explain why.
The build is ironically based on the “BrazilTheHue”-Troll-Axe-Build. We combine the Axe build with the sword build and get the sword dps + some sick axe dmg.
The Idea is the following: 90% of all bosses/mobs got projectiles that you can reflect. And reflection can crit and is influenced by your build. That’s how people do lupicus in 20 seconds.
And that’s what you can and should do as a Ranger!

In the Video you will see how it works. It needs some good knowledge of the bosses aswell as some good timing.
I paused the vid on some bosses to show what dmg you can reflect. As you can see in the CoF-part i deal the same amount of dmg, my team did in 5 seconds, in 1 sec with reflection (~50k dmg). This is just a little example there is much more you can do with this.

CoF
- Last Boss knock down deals ~5,0k per hit (~10 hits) = ~50k dmg .
Arah
- Mages do 10k projectile (not in video)
- Elementals do ~7k per hit (many hits)
- Lupicus (see other vids from mesmers, it works the same way)
CoE
- Robot deals 23k dmg projectile aswell as 4-5 10k projectiles. (if timed right 50k dmg spike)
HotW
- Ice Guy deals 3×13k hit ~40k spike
So basically what you’ll do is dps with sword/horn and swap whenever you need to reflect incoming projectiles for a quick 20-50k dmg spike. If you play sword/axe you won’t loose dps due to weapon swap cd.

Use Sword/Horn + Sword/Axe if you want and leave out the “Honed Axes” if you want. I personally like the Axe/Axe combo.
For pets and sigil/runes use what you want i find these to be the ones i like. (dont use bear, just go with jungle stalkers/dragons and you’ll be fine)
Swap the fire trap with whatever you want. I like the might stacking with the warhorn.
I personally dont like to use “Fortifying Bond” but use it if you want.
The Axe is a must have weapon for PvE! The dmg spike is so freakin high once you learned when bosses attack.
