I’m wondering, what does the Ranger community want to see the most for quality of life changes? Not big balance changes, which are hopefully incoming, but things like skill responsiveness or glitchy pets.

Personally, I’d really like it if we had a better pet status indicator. Currently, I have to manually click on my pet to see exactly what boons and conditions he currently has. At a glance, I can only keep track of his HP. Something like the party member status indicators we currently have would be great.

If we got that and better F2 responsiveness, I’d be really happy.

The biggest would certainly be better responsiveness on the F2 skill and faster AI activation when switching pets.

When I give the pet the command, I want it to immediately interrupt its current action and activate its F2 skill.

I also hate it when I switch my pets and the newly activated pet takes 2+ seconds to acquire a target and do anything. I have no idea where that lag comes from but it clearly shouldn’t be there. Mesmer illusions don’t wait that long to acquire targets and start fighting so my pets shouldn’t either. They should already be running at their target by the time my computer finishes rendering their model.

Also forgot another thing. The fact that Signet of the Wild transforms you and doesn’t allow you to stomp enemy players. Not sure exactly why this would be a conscious design choice, I hope it isn’t.

Yes, please!

The word “ranger” does not originate from the
word “range” but from “to range”.

I’d be happy if they found a way for inactive pets to keep names given to them. I have kind of lost faith in there being any balance changes that are not centered around sPvP without any concern for the other game modes.

Pets have been hidden due to rising Player complaints.

I want to see the pet have a broader role in the Rangers gameplay.

Place “Search and Rescue” and “Guard” (without stealth) on the pet bar, as permanent pet skills. To give the pet more usage when on passive, and to allow for better pet control in combat.

Make three pet “save slots” so we can save pets in a pairs, and quickly swap pets outside of combat. So you would open the pet window, select Save Slot 1/2/3, and then close the window again. As an example, you could have two pets with chill skills in the first save slot, two pets with support skills in the second save slot, and two pets for dps in the third save slot. This would allow the Ranger to quickly change “roles”, before going into different combat situations.

I like OP and I like Kasama’s suggestions. Bran is right about pet names. Aegael has pointed out something that should have been fixed a long time ago. And Stice is providing evidence that stability training should be an adept trait that applies for most (or all) pets.

I’d like to have the chance to manage pets, just like how it worked with heroes back in GW1.

For the ones who don’t know, in GW1 you were able to actively control heroes through the UI, overwriting the AI decisions. You were also able to prevent the AI to use specific skills and use them manually. Also, you were able to completely control their movement.

This will raise up the Ranger’s skill cap while making the profession less frustrating.

-More responsiveness and less clunky behavior in pet, especially [F2]
-Save all inactive pet names
-New interface: Pet health (include numbers), active boons, conditions and show the pet skill bar, with real-time monitoring activation and cool-downs
-There is a trait to detect fall damage, even triggering an effect. While stowed, a pet should not reactivate

Can’t think of anything else at the moment that isn’t a balance issue

Pets not being useless against bosses and anything that’s moving. Also with ascended gear coming out, the Ranger’s damage potential in comparison to other profs is going to fall even lower. Maybe they should massively increase the bonus beast mastery gives to pets, but then you’re stuck with every ranger having to delve into beast mastery.

Better condition removal, please? All we have is Healing Spring for active condition removal, then Signet of Renewal and a trait or two for passive condition removal, which isn’t as good.

Better stunbreakers would be nice too.
