Hello, i’ve been playing my ranger for a few days now and i’ve been doing wvw. So every time i run into a zerg bigger than ours, i turn away and press GS #3 but my toon just turns back and moves towards the enemy instead of turning away. How do i do this so i can escape successfully?

If you have an enemy selected you will always swoop to attack them. If you unselect an enemy, you’ll swoop in whatever direction you’re currently facing.

If you want to use swoop for escape you need to detarget and then use it. If you have a target you will start going towards them.

Thank you, i think that pressed esc button before i did GS #3, is there an auto target option that enables/disables this?

Yes, check your options and turn off the auto targeting. I can’t remember exactly what it’s called but it should be obvious.

Hitting escape won’t always deselect the target. Try clicking the ground right before leaping and keep hoping that one day they will give us a button to self target

You can also bind “lock autotarget” to a key. Hitting the key will then clear your target.
