Quick Draw vs Trapper's Potency/Expertise
Trapper’s Potency and Trapper’s Expertise
Why? Because shortbow is incredibly situational and if I’m using a Longbow on a trap build; would just be stupid.

Another thing, do you think it’s worth it to spend 10 extra trait points to get Trapper’s Potency too?
If you’re specced for conditions and love AoE, yeah why not.

Well, there’s always an opportunity cost. Would it be worth getting if getting it meant losing piercing arrows, pet recharge CD, or points (and Cond Dmg) from the Wilderness tree in general?
I’m not disagreeing with you or anything, but I just wanted to pick at your brain a bit. Thanks for the discussion =)
Personally, I use longbow; because it’s the most exciting(IMO) thing the Ranger has to offer when it comes to weapons. I generally run 20/25/10/0/15, so I wouldn’t personally sacrifice the utility of my pet and my piecing arrows + longbow cooldowns.
You can still run a 10/30/15/0/15 build. You might be losing your piercing arrows, but the traps will make up for the lack of AoE your bows will dish out.

Haha, I actually run a 20/25/10/0/15 build as well. I was tinkering with some trap builds however and wanted to ask the question.
A quick curious question, what utilities do you carry usually?
6: Heal as One/Healing Spring… More so Heal as one. Healing spring IMO is more situational. When I don’t have to be constantly strafing and if it’s safe enough to run to my partners and drop it by their feet
7: QZ. 2nd Best reviver (Beside thieves). Also it works wondering with Barrage + Rapid fire… Or anything as a matter of fact
8: Situational. I run Signet of Renewal if I’m running Heal as One, or Protect me when it’s Healing Spring. Conditions are a pain. Signet of the Wild also helps with your Pets survivability, so if i’m feeling compassionate (usually am not) I’ll run that too.
9: LR. ’Cause stun breaker + extra dodge. Damage mitigation is nice.
10: Entangle. Such a powerful skill (when it works) In PvE.

My opinion on this is pretty simple (and all from a PvE/WvW perspective):
If you’re using traps and NOT using Trapper’s Expertise you’re an idiot. Traps without ground target are just… bad, and the 50% larger AoE is almost mandatory too. They come as a package though so it doesn’t really matter which is the “must have” and which is the “nice to have.”
Trap Potency on the other hand is decent but it just doesn’t seem to quite work right in the ‘double duration of conditions’ part. I’m not sure if it’s the conditions are just so short to begin with it doesn’t matter, the durations don’t stack and/or reset with each application, or it just doesn’t work at all. All I know is the only part I actually notice is the 20% shorter CD and I barely notice that to be honest.
Quickdraw tends to fall in the same category as Potency for me. There’s just other things I find more valuable. Shortbow skills are highly situational and so I very rarely actually care about using them 20% more frequently especially since it hurts DPS to do it. Longbow it might be better but I just don’t like using a longbow for longer than it takes weapon swap to finish its CD.
So, if I had to take 2/3 it would probably be both trap traits because I probably just wouldn’t be using a bow (Axe/off-hand and one of the swords instead). But if I was dead set on using Longbow (not Shortbow) I might drop Potency for Quickdraw.
