When I first rolled ranger I was disappointed with the fact that pet names disappear whenever they’re swapped… No matter. I’ve made it my business to manually change my pet’s name when I change them! Hear are the names of all the pets I currently have.

Agree… this is so annoying.. Ppl have asked A-net to fix this so many times but the last thing they said about it was that it was as intended and that they didnt plan on doing anything about it any time soon. That was some time ago though (read “over a year ago”). I saw that link last week, don’t remember where, why I can’t link it.

Of the pets I use regularly, these are my set names:

• Might Dispenser – Jungle Stalker
• Backstab Dispenser – Jaguar
• Jermoe Morrow – Wolf (PvP)
• Jermoe Morrow – Krytan Drake hound (PvP)
• Mordrem Fern Hound (Previously: Heal Dispenser)- Fern Hound

• Itsy Bitsy – Black Widow

I have been making many posts on this, and please Arena Net fix this. I know it is not a bug, but please add this function.

It’s tragic that anyone would be forced to make a list like this, it really is.

ANet should be highly embarrassed by this and the general state of Rangers in this game.

It’s not like there wasn’t already another, very successful, game with hunters in it to draw from.

There is really no excuse I can think of for a newer game to be worse than a well known existing one, in this kind of way.

Lucky for me I only use 2, Scruffy, my wolf… And Iggy, my black widow, baby…

You are a true Ranger. If this was an open world PvP game I’d PK any Ranger who refused to name his pet, regardless of the reason. I’ve done that in other games.

I’ve named my jaguar Juvenile Black Bear because I saw someone do it and it seemed clever.

• Red Moa – Perrah (Actually had to change this one, turns out ‘Perra’ is a Spanish curse word…whoops!

Props to everyone who calls their pet Juvenile Brown Bear though…seen that a couple of times, and it always makes me laugh :p

My Marsh Drake is whatever i feel like at the moment. He’s been Bladder Control for a while (from the mordrem part stuff, might rename again when HoT comes out)

When I pull the moas out they are known as “Lawn Moa”

This is SO annoying. I cannot understand A-Net would possibly have this horrible naming system in the game. It drives me crazy and ruins the immersion when you have to rename your pets EVERY SINGLE TIME.

i have 3 rangers, so my pet name list is long and sometimes hilarious. i always have a wolf. the fear is too dang useful. one wolf is named Fenrisulf, one is White Fang, and one is named Im The Pretty One.

my power/condi/toughness melee ranger (GS / sword+dagger) has a spider named Juvenile Delinquent (paired with Fenris), my all glass zerker pew pew power ranger (GS / LB) has a panther named Im With Stupid (paired with the pretty one XD), and my all knights gear melee ranger (GS / sword+horn) has a pink moa named Lawn Ornament (because i think it looks like a flamingo. lol)

i have in the past used Hedwig for a snowy owl, Lord Nagafen for a reef drake (cookie to anyone who gets the reference on THAT one), Murica for an eagle, Poe for a raven, Marmaduke on the krytan drakehound, Bruce or Jaws for a shark, Squishy for a jellyfish, Gojira for one of the ugly green drakes (forget which one.. marsh maybe?), and Fugly Lil Beast for the Charr starter devourer.

PvE:

Jungle Stalker = Bronze Tiger (I know it’s a Leopard but I like to have DC and Marvel named pets)
Jaguar = Wildcat
Jungle Spider = Spodirman

PvP:

Wolf = Awooooooooooooo
Lynx = Bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeed

My river drake is named @nusaur.

I usually only use a black widow and wolf in spvp.

I haven’t tried in the last few months… does the name stick to each pet yet?

If not, I can’t even think of naming them – that’s a lot of typing over and over and over because my pets are situational…

Anet really needs to make the names stick.

+1, only reason I don’t name my pets is the no sticking, please fix Anet.

sadly pets still don’t stick. :/

I always use spiders and i always name them Shannon Doherty. One is a venomous, creepy, little monster that spits poison…….. and the other is a spider. So The name seemed fitting.

My spiders are always called Cuddles. (mostly cause it seems to really upset people and I even get whispers telling me to change their names)
My shark is called Bruce.
My polar bear is called Bipolar and my grizzly is called Yogi.
My drakehound is Scooby.
My fernhound is Leafall.
My Arctic wolf is Ashfur and my brown wolf is Psych.
My raven is called Bran.
My Owl is Snowfall.
My eagle and hawk share the name of Eluna.
I also often use a Merellow(sp?) called Munchie <3

My cat pet is named Babou. Named after the most famous Ocelot ever.
Fun fact : he is totally Crepuscular

The name reset doesn’t affect me since I stick to the same pets at all times. As an asura ranger, I use an Eagle and a Raven. The names are:

1. Directional Coupler – Eagle
2. Precision Inductor – Raven

I did do a test build that used the dog and I named him Translocator.

I only use two:
1. Wolf – Phobos
2. Sylvan hound – Medicus

Occasionally I may use my eagle with my condi build, Kokko the Eagle

My friend made me name my Shark ‘Bruce’ as that was the nickname for the shark in Jaws.

My pet names are unimaginative (Fire for stalker, Ice for alpine stalker), the aforementioned Bruce, and Superfast the Jellyfish.

I named all of mine peeve because when they pop out after I have stowed them has been my kittening pet peeve for nearly 3 years!

Here is the list of names I use for my pets.
Jaguar – Sombra (Shadow in portuguese)
Reef Drake – Calango (Gecko in portuguese)
River Drake – Frogodile
Black Widow – Dona Aranha (“Lady spider” in portuguese)
Wolf – Lobinho (Small wolf in portuguese)
Jelly-fish – U Jelly

Some brazilian players put “BR” in their names, I make my pets have names in portuguese to see if others notice and sometimes I find other brazilians that way
