So I was thinking…if the following were done to RAO I think it would be great:

1. 10 stacks of might (for player and pet)
2. 10 stacks of stability (for player and pet)
3. No red glow
4. Make it a survival skill (to work with SoTF)

Can keep the fury and swiftness duration as is I guess. Also, the stacks of might and stability would be instant upon skill cast and not dependent on attacking as they are now.

Any thoughts?

I think making it a survival skill and pairing it with SoTF would make the cooldown way too short. Considering a build spec’d for Boon Duration, I’d be tempted to say that could lead to some OP raging. Plus we already have an Elite skill that’s a Survival Skill : Entangle.
RaO is considered a Pet skill, and currently is the only one in that category. I’m guessing ANet had plans to make utilities in the Pet categories, maybe they’ll introduce them with Druid.

I like this change.
The current design which relies on pet’s landing hits just doesn’t make much of a sense. It only works well against trash mobs, which you probably don’t need to use RaO at the first place.

OP much?

As much as i like to see some serious ranger buffs, the one, you suggested goes way overboard.

Not to mention, that “Wilderness Knowledge” would make it even more powerful during longer fights.

10 instant might stacks are overdoing it by far, not to mention, how much the lack of red glow would cause it to be even more OP in PvP.

If you wanna skip trash, use SotW and bring a stunbreak just in case and equip sword/horn for swiftness and Sword#2 leap and then switch to GS for swoop and block.
Seriously, don’t waste RaO for skipping trash in dungeons…

10 stacks of might is too much?
It’s on a 120 seconds cool down and only 20 secs duration.

Warriors Signet of Rage grants constant 5 stacks of might. For great justice constant 3 stacks of might to the whole party. I don’t even want to begin the infinite on demand fire field and numerous blast finishers
Also Phanlanx strength can permanently provide the whole team 20+ layers of mights in combat within mere 3 seconds.

Guardian can gives 12 stacks of might to the whole party on a relatively short cool down through straff.

Necromancer can self sustain 20 stacks of might permanenly.

So tell me, how is RoA granting 10 stacks of might for 20 secs on a 120 seconds CD OP?

RaO , if traited like the OP said, would be 10 stacks of might for 26 sec (ranger + pet), 10 stacks of stability for 26 sec (ranger + pet), fury for 26 sec (ranger) + fury for 7, 3/4 sec (ranger), swiftness for 26 sec (ranger) + 2 conditions removed on 96 sec CD. It should also break stun i guess. It’s ridiculous.

And your comparisons have no sense outside of traits and builds.

Just remove the cast time and make it a shout.

We already have entangle has a survival skill, but I’d like to see RaO as a Signet or Shout.

Signet version
Passive: Increase secondary pet attributes (Ferocity , Healing power, Condition damage) by 360.
Active: Stun break. Gain 4 stacks of Stability for 10s. Gain Fury for 15s. 60s cooldown.

Shout version
Stun break. Gain 8 stacks of Stability for 15s. Gain Fury and Swiftness for 15s. 60s cooldown.

This would be an absolutely terrible change. 10 stacks of stability isn’t enough to cover the entire 30 seconds of stability we have now, and the more important aspect is your might change: As of now, I can easily stack 25 might on my raven, pair it with Sic’ Em and SotW for a massive f2 burst paired with quickness from a fresh pet swap. It’s meant as a Beastmastery skill; survival has its own elite. All you’re doing now is needlessly nerfing an already underused skill as compared to Entangle. You don’t use it to empower yourself. People need to stop using this mindset and building or Theorycrafting their Rangers while completely circumventing the pet mechanic. It’s integral to the class.

+1 definetly, in fact it makes much more sense as a shout than a “petskill”

The only reason I think there are even shouts on the ranger was someone was concerned that the Rune of the Solider (now called Trooper) where only effective on two profession and they felt the need to diversify the usefulness the the rune and to provide already designed traits to the profession so skills that make more sense as “Pet Skills” became shouts include what might be the only shout with a cast time.

Pets have been hidden due to rising Player complaints.

You really think Anet is giving us more than 10 stacks of stability once the change hits? You have a lot more faith than I.

Look, from my perspective, our Elites are broken and trashy. You only use Entangle for the condition remove (no one stays in it, ever), and you only use RAO for the stability (as with 99% of your pets, you aren’t building any might).

Also, BM builds are useless as it is. No one uses them as there is no reason to when you can roll power or condi + survival and actually do somewhat well.

Finally about the red glow…how would removing it make it OP? What our class has a ‘avoid me’ signal like that?

I never said anything about the red glow. Go watch my one gameplay video where I run my power BM build and see just how well it does. Narrow mindedness is a terrible condition.

I guess it was directed at me.
The red glow’s important, because the stability lasts for quite a while. Compare it to other stability skills from other classes.

Warrior’s elite “Rampage” is the closest one to our RaO and is also nicely visible to other players and they get their weapon-skills swapped with a terrible moveset during it’s duration.

You gotta think about what other classes need to sacrifice in order to achieve the things, we can do by simply using RaO and some brain.

Tho, i wouldn’t mind if RaO would be also a stunbreak and remove immobilze on use.

As well as making this skill a shout, I would love to see a halving of the durations and the CD. Then it would be very, very nice.

i’m just gonna say it now, i don’t think we’ll have stability for ANY transformation elites (IE any elite that currently gives stability base), if anything i’d imagine we’d get a break bar, something anet has already said players will have access to and make it so once you’ve sustained a certain amount of CCs (dependent on the skill used) it “breaks” the transform. IE someone goes lich and after taking X CCs they get stunned and turned back into their normal form.

Also OP, that idea is ridiculous, for starters it’s probably the furthest thing we have from a survival skill seeing as how no survival skills we currently have benefit the pet in any way and are entirerly based on using some minor nature magic for things. If anything Rampage as One should be a shout since it fits rather closely with those, the only difference is it’s useful and does something more than command the pet.

I really like the passive for that signet! Imo the active should be something completely different, but that’d be an awesome passive for an elite signet!
