The axe has always been suited to work with hybrid damage stats, with the Might stacking of Ricochet combining with the bleeding from Splitblade and Winter’s Bite. The latter two skills have very low power coefficients, which prevented them from getting the maximum benefit from Might. We have significantly increased the power scaling of these two skills to grant them more synergy with the goal of the kit.
Splitblade: The damage per axe hit of this skill has been increased by 200% in PvP only.
Winter’s Bite: The damage of this skill has been increased by 150%.

Why the kitten is split blade buff pvp only. They claim PvP/PvE splits are hard then waste time doing them on baffling changes like this. Give that buff to PvE along with the second bounce they removed for no kittening reason and it might be a decent weapon, but I guess we can’t have that now then.

Better then the usal nerf condi ranger while buffing already stronger dps classes of the last few patches, I suppose.

I don’t understand why Splitblade buff in PvP only ? I guess it will most likely to come on PvE later…

Also, Winter’s Bite doesn’t seem to have been buffed. Maybe the damage was so low I didn’t notice any changes ? But, I think it’s not updated.

Give the Bounce back please and buff OH Axe.

Tested Ricochet and it seems that it bounces from any directions. Exemple, if your target is in front of you, it can bounce to a target behind you. I don’t believe it was this way before, if someone can confirm it too…

Oh for kittens sake its worse then I thought. Winter’s Bite is only buffed in PvP too. Tool tip doesn’t show it but I tested on golems.

Anet can kitten off, massive slap in the face.

LOL. I was also confused why it was telling ‘’This skill is unique per game mode’’ and suspected it. Also, suspected the tooltip wasn’t updated.

At the end, nothing worth of mention for Ranger. Those pitiful won’t change anything for Ranger Axe in PvP.

Back to your LB, Staff, S/D, GS bois and gals. Nothing to see here.

This entire patch had a lot of “PVP Only” splits on a lot skills. These axe changes are something that should have been applied to all game modes.

Though, I can’t really be salty about these changes overall since Engineers saw 0 love this patch. Mesmers didn’t receive any updates either, but they’re in a better spot.

Edit: Also, this bug was fixed.

Fixed a bug in which player pets, clones, and minions would scale their stats based on the fractal scale.

This bug was one of the best things to happen for the above listed. One of the few things that should have been a “feature” in fractals. Oh, well.

Mainhand axe is a condition weapon… not this weird hybrid weapon Anet keeps trying to push on us. These changes are underwhelming and won’t do anything to encourage the use of it in PvP.

The problem with MH axe is that it doesn’t have any movement skill, and our offhand weapons don’t provide any movement either after the Stalker’s Strike range nerf. If a player uses MH axe, they are stuck with a low mobility, low defense weaponset for 9 seconds.

I was a power ranger before it was cool.

On a side note: Drakes’ AI is still busted. Just auto-attacking without ever using Tail Swipe or Chomp. 4-months and counting…!

Just thought I’d see since, ya know, maybe whatever it was that broke them before was accidentally corrected in this patch. Oh, well!

You think Axe is only a condi weapon because of bleed from Splitblade and Winter’s Bite. Meanwhile, the AA always been power focused and even more with the trait.

The problem is that SB is a 900 range condi weapon and there is no 900 range power weapon. Same with melee range, you only have Sword as a MH for power. I guess their only way to make it mesh together is to make Axe hybrid. Ranged power AA (Ricochet), Melee condi (Splitbade) and both (Winter’s Bite).

The buffs, even if small, are welcomed. Ranger Axes still need buffs, but I think it’s on the good direction. If only they could make Path of Scar more reliable and with a bigger radius, then do something about Whirling Defense stationary problems.

Shortbow autoattack is also very effective with Sharpened Edges, Sigil of Earth, and Sharpening Stone. These give SB the potential to apply 4 stacks of bleed with each shot.

I actually used OH axe a lot back before they increased the projectile speed. I found that it was actually easier to land when it moved slower because you had time to reposition yourself so the return axe would connect.

I was a power ranger before it was cool.

sorry i just can’t stop laughing… such completely disconnection from not only the class they designed but also from the forums.

With the ranger\engineer we have the same problem as the one in charge of the game economics and i’m starting to think also the one in charge of the structure.

It must to be replaced ASAP.

i’ve been laughing all the night, my friends ask me was going on with me at the pub… Not that they play gw or whatever.

Alright, just playing the Devil’s advocate here, because I know very well Power MH Axe is not used in meta builds.

On paper, Ricochet can be the highest power AA of Ranger weapon skills. Yes, even more than 1000 range Long Range Shot of LB and Sword AA. You can get 25 might easily with MH Axe + Nature Magic + Warhorn. It’s an alternative to Longbow, it just lacks utility (knockback, stealth, etc.), that’s why it’s not used.

The nerf to SotP (indirectly Remorseless, which could be used with Power Axe) made people use it even less (which, again, was not that used). Yes, you could stack 25 Vulnerability in a instant on someone while having 25 might on yourself and an unblockable 25 might pet. After all, a niche build that got nerfed, so nobody heard of it.

So, it means on MH Axe, you have the Ranger’s highest power AA and also a high condi damage skill (Splitblade).

And yes, as I said, SB is the best condi weapon to use, followed by Axe (mostly instances).
