Ranger - Best Condi Roaming Build?
That is pretty much the meta build right there.
Only difference is most would run wilderness knowledge over shared anguish, and I personally prefer qz over muddy terrain.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
Oh and axe/dagger + sword/torch is the more popular combo.
It gives you an evade and a poison on each set, and you can use sword to leap through your fire field.
If you do want to run warhorn then put your earth sigil on that set and use it with sharpened edges to stack massive bleeds with warhorn #4

Personally speaking I do not understand how you melee rangers do it. Maybe because I main a Guardian like forever and only recently switched to a Ranger. But when I go melee I always end up eating dirt.
Side note – have you tried the prickly pear pie? Life steal plus condition. I use it on my trapper and love it.
Johnny Johnny – Ranger (Ehmry Bay)
Hárvey Wallbanger – Alt Warrior (Ehmry Bay)

Well the main hand axe is ranged, and the strategy with sword is to evade through your bonfire. Once it runs out you swap back to axe. So its not melee like guardian GS or anything.

But overall you need to be close to your target to land splitblade, and also get those geometry sigil proc’s if you use them. The build can’t really deal much damage from ranged, aside from having the pet attack while you kite.
Back to what that guard said, regen rangers have a ton of sustain and evasion. And if they run settlers instead of apothecary, they can eat a lot of damage, so being close to a target doesn’t affect them as much. Its probably the best duelling spec we have.
The spec he’s running isn’t what I usually run. I drop 6 into beastmastery and 2 into nature magic along with signet of the wild. Lets me nail perma regen, and with the passive regen from the signet I get almost around 480hp/s, and that isn’t even counting troll unguent.

I just wanted warhorn so I could have landspeed without needing a rune or a signet. Earth on the horn is a good idea. The bleed stack was what I was going for!
Warhorn is too weak for 1v1s, I’d recommend swapping sharpening stone for signet of the hunt and using s/t. Your damage will improve despite “losing” a utility, and it will buff your pet damage. Also you can always swap the signet out if you see the enemy coming.
You could also consider a bird for a swiftness, but that’s only for in-combat.
This is my survival condition ranger (pvp). I’ve done a lot of testing and it seems to be the balance I like the most. I’ll list out the differences between your build and maybe you’ll pick up something you like.

- Empethetic Bond is taken over Bark Skin (I would take Poison Master over Bark Skin in situations not requiring condition removal)
- Keen Edge is taken over Sharpened Edges (SE works best with shortbow, Keen Edge triggers Survival of the Fittest & benefits from 20% cooldown)
- Sword/Torch Axe/Dagger for best condition spread
- 2x Torment Sigils for an extra cover condition + damage
- 2x Geomancy Sigils to supplement bleed stacks
- Drakehound > Spider (or even Lynx for 8 more stacks of bleed)
- Wilderness Knowledge is a must
- Traveler Runes taken over Krait Runes for constant movement speed and 20% condition duration (10% on runes, 10% traited) for all conditions instead of 45% for bleeds only. The build needs to give up something for mobility (either a utility slot, runes, offhand weapon or 2 in Skirmishing), this is what works best for me. Might cost a bit in WvW but totally worth it IMO.
I like the survival condi ranger because of it’s customization. You can tweak it in multiple ways to suit your needs while still getting great results. I wouldn’t consider any survival ranger cheese, unlike how the longbow rangers are considered. It is a really solid build though that can go up against just about anything if built well.
Good luck!
I think condi survival is one of those builds, every one has there own version based on personal preferences but they are all more or less the same.
Yup, every1 tweaks their SotF build as they like.

I run this one when in party, but when I run alone, I switch the Sharpened Edges to Keen Edge and take the Signet of the Hunt for 25% speed.
