Ranger bugs never fixed
that one unfortunately isn’t a bug but it is working as intended. they mentioned something about needing a way to store the names locally and they didn’t have that set up. There is, however, an extra long list of bugs that still need to be fixed lol.

Yea, I’ve been watching the official gw2 bug tracker and they’re only thinking about fixing 2 ranger bugs even though the playerbase’s bug list is astronomically larger.
(The two they’re checking:)
“Ranger: Protect Me! shout puts nearby allies in combat briefly”
“Ranger: When equipping or reequipping the Druid specialization the icon for Celestial Avatar becomes displaced and over sized”
oh there is a massive list with bugs that affect the ranger\druid some of them even from 2012.
but i cant find the thread now… can a kind sould link it here for reference?
I believe that they said that this was intended because : “If they were to save all the pet’s name for each player, it would be a massive amount of data to store”

Almost 1 USB key.
Yea, I remember that one. Even the data break-down measured by some of the guys in here. Cheers to the soul if he’s out there reading this.

First of all, I don’t think ‘they’ (as in Anet) ever said that, I’m thinking that was something made up by some forum lurker who think they know things when it comes to programming and databases.
Secondly, the statement “a massive amount of data to store”, like that’s the issue (massive compared to what?), is bullkitten, pure and simple.
I asked a friend to create a sample database with 50 million unique entries, fully indexed and searchable. He didn’t have the time to finish the generation of it, but after about 5 million entries, the size were about 175 Megabyte, so he estimated the finished database to about 1.75 Gigabyte.
Adding indexing for faster search, he estimated the final size to be in the range of 2 to 2.5 Gigabyte. Increase the size to 3 Gigabyte and you can add lots of other entries as well.

Likewise, from time-to-time. Unfortunately, 20+ bugs – tested and confirmed by the community – as well as other QoL inconsistencies does not seem to make that list because… Oh, kitten it.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.

While I appreciate the effort behind that list, I still find it to be a joke.
The one that really grinds my OCD is that the Glyphs of Empowerment and The Tides have their icons swapped when you enter Celestial Avatar form.
