Ranger Builds
Ugh… I have not played my ranger in a while… But since you like longbows, there is one trait line that will increase longbow damage and range! I think it is the top one. So go for that if you like the long bow.
As for other options, if you like the spirits, there is another trait line that will make them movable so they follow you. Don’t remember what the other trait lines did, but at least go for the longbow one.
Whatever your build may be, keep in mind that whatever you choose now could and possibly/ probably will change come end-game/ level cap. Survivability during ‘raid-like’ fights for example are best met by somewhat balancing out DPS and toughness/ vitality. I run with a friend who has had a sick DPS/ Crit % rating and he has had to down-grade his build due to pulling way too much aggro. (He has a problem controlling himself, I understand that point and have made it to him on multiple occassions). But if you’re picky enough, you can find the sweet spot to still dish out a ton of damage, non-stop without having to stop attacking completely (which does no one any good).
If you’d like to know his build to go by as a guideline or w/e, I can put you in touch with him. He’s a very critical player/ meticulous
I suggest visiting some of the build sites around the web. A simple Google Search will suffice. It kind of bothers me though that people are asking for builds when the game is only a few weeks old. Your build is going to change as you level up anyway. I started out heavy with BM and Signets which helped me solo things faster, but I’ve moved on to traps which are more helpful when mobs start to have higher health and toughness.
It totally depends on what your alternate weapon is going to be.
I posted my build which is a longbow/greatsword build. It is meant to be a ranged build, yet it has huge potential and a high skill cap in melee as well.
Title on it is “Greatsword/Longbow, The Ultimate Barrage”.
It has everything you need to know about that set-up, and feel free to post questions if you need anything.
To add one point that will be of help. If you are playing Longbow as your primary weapon, you MUST (and I cannot stress this enough), you MUST put 30 points in Marksmanship. This allows you to increase your longbow range.
You can argue about the other 40 points, but 30 in Marksmanship is a must.

For groups and dungeons I’ve loved using trap builds, particularly frost and fire for the combo fields.
As for recommendations I heartily recommend Axe/Warhorn for general PVE (since I assume that’s what you’re playing) as either a first or second set.
Hello guys! Thanks, keep the feedbacks/responses coming.

That’s what I’m trying to accomplish. Longbow/Greatsword build.
