Hi all,

I was having a conversation about this with a friend a few minutes ago. He point out, and rightfully so, that all condition removal options for the ranger are tied to the pet.

Outside of 100% depending on the pet, the ranger has no viable options to remove conditions outside of healing spring.

Condition removal is very important and has been in the last few metas, this is evidenced by the current top tier meta being dominated by Necromancers and Spirit Rangers.

Empathic Bond is uncontrollable condition removal that does not give the ranger an on demand function to cleanse. Also the condition are transferred to the pet, which hampers the rangers effectiveness due to the dependency on the pet.

Signet of Renewal is centered around the pet and without Signet of the Beastmaster, will only remove a condition if the pet is in range.

Healing Spring locks the ranger to one single small area. The range is naturally a very mobile class whose survival with weapons like longbow, is directly died to positioning. Standing in a spring to cleanse can be a death sentence for LBow users. This is further enforced by how friendly this game is to gap closing.

Bear shout for condition removal is not dependable due to pet skill queues and still requires the pet to be in range.

In short, if the pet dies or is distant the ranger is completely hosed for condition removal.

Compared to other classes, are condition defense capabilities is terribly bad and gimmicky.

So with patch day around the corner, I see this as a major hamper to ranger competitiveness.

The question is, what do we do?

How do we balance ranger condition removal? What are the community’s ideas?

Add some condition removal to heal as one, or make it so it’s like an on demand Empathic Bond and sucks 2-3 conditions to your pet.

We have the only class heal in the entire game that does nothing besides a flat healing effect. The added “also heals pet” effect is completely superfluous since every heal we have affects the pet.

I was also thinking along the lines of having signets always affect both the ranger and the pet and changing signet of the beastmaster to aoe remove 1 condition from allies in a 600m radius whenever a signet is used.

Kind of agree. Biggest problem imo is our disability to counter these easy-mode gapclosers. Improving PB shot, Quick Shot, Hunter’s Shot, L. Reflex to remove at least immobilize, cut it down on useless damage and vigor, reduce cd by 4 seconds and make it 600-900 range leap backwards, all I want

I think they need to remove the whole “transfer conditions to the pet” thing. How many other classes have to give up on their class mechanic to have any condition removal?

A good question. This fact shows a true weakness designed into the ranger. Team play is a viable solution right now.

Clones are, by design, meant to die. Pets are not, despite how much the devs seem to like killing them.
