Is there an in-game guild for Rangers? A place where many of the best and brightest Ranger minds can go to talk about builds and maybe set up duels between each other to test things out?

If not, would there be any interest in this?

I vaguely remember there being one a long time ago. I never joined it due to my guilds rep policies and I’m not sure if they are still around

Prysin was running an all ranger guild. Don’t remember the name, although he was advertising on the ranger forums. Drop him a PM if you’re interested.

That is what Prysin was trying to do, a guild where experienced rangers can teach the newcommers. Don’t know if its still there. I would love to join too, but server change is not an option for me. An all ranger zerg would be awesome though.

I would like to get 2-? Rangers running together in WvW. All with LB+? and insta kill people with focused fire.

Used to do it in Daoc and it is a blast.

HEY! someone make this all Ranger guild happen. Doesnt matter what server you are on, as long as we can teach interested players or actual rangers in game, then that alone is fulfilling our role in the community and in the game.

hm… yeah i think we need to organise this because if just everybidy manes one with his own name we would end up with 4 guilds and not 1.

In the end, the guild was ran by the same core of players that got it going. 5 players left, myself and a RL friend of mine, Chopps, and two from my server (Far SHiverpeaks).
After keeping it alive as a zombie for 4 months, i decided to shut it down.
Yes it did spring to life every now and then, however it died out pretty soon. Iv’e come the the conclusion that a all ranger guild will not survive in the long run. Don’t put time nad resources into it.

Then these so called Rangers probably doesn’t even have the pure love for the class if they don’t play it that often or switched out to a different class.

Im talking about Ranger being your only class type of players. Ive deleted my thief and guard lvl 80s and started a Ranger just cause I’ve played Ranger in GW1 for 2 years.

I love Ranger despite everything being said and has been done to the class. If any of you are planning on running a Ranger guild, I suggest for you to have a reason why, and ask your self why are you playing this class to begin with.

Cause you will need that reason to look back into when you’re doubting your self about this class.

Unless you can gather all those rangers who live just to play rangers in MMO’s on the same server, the guild will die. Not because the players lack dedication, but because without a common activity among members, they start to loose focus.
There is only so much you can theorycraft and discuss about a single profession. We reached that limit, and henceforth, died.

I saw someone advertising an all ranger guild in map chat when I was in JQ WvW like 3 days ago. I have no clue what it was called, but their message was something like: “All ranger guild recruiting for PvX. Only required rep. while on ranger.” I don’t know anything else about it though. Maybe someone else will know.

I’ve thought of it, having a backline of zerker GS all charging in and popping their maul swifties and promptly melting one second later. Would at least be a “wtk happened” moment if most of them connect.

Alas it would not be sustainable or overall effective so it it must remain in my imagination

But in the meantime, what how does guild name Favorable Winds [Wind] sound?

Think there’s Link the Cunning in Jade Quarry. Don’t know if he’s joking about it, but he puts it in his recruitment lines of a Ranger guild.

My goal would primarily be to provide an in-game forum and testing area for us to chat and have a bit of fun. I don’t really care if it’s got 5 people I know really well or 100. I’m not a big fan of mandatory repping, so I’d only encourage repping on Rangers or just when you want to chat; I think it detracts from the fun of the game when it starts to feel like job or something.

And being cross server only means we can’t WvW together (but it means we could duel each other!) We can all still do dungeons or world content together, and even though I mostly WvW, I’m usually willing to help guildmates do PvE content as well.

I encourage you rangers to do this. For myself, being a recent ranger newcomer, I’d love to join a guild like this. The mesmer forum set up a similar guild a few months ago and it’s still going strong. Maybe appoint a handful of leaders so if one or two (or five) leave, it can still continue.

The mesmer guild [OMFG] has been immensely helpful for many new and seasoned mesmers, and has close to 300 members. Some info that may help this effort or provide some inspiration:

• We have a three tiered system of ranks: Teacher, Tester and Scholar that each incoming member can choose to associate with. Newcomers (usually Scholars) know they can contact anyone with Teacher rank for information on how to play, etc. People theory-crafting know they can reach out to any member with Tester rank (or Teacher for that matter) to bounce ideas off of.
• Leader and Teacher ranks can invite/add newcomers to the guild.
• We set up a custom arena to spar against each other, test new builds and to just hang out.
• We provide a teamspeak server for members, which has seen much more use than I expected.
• Most mesmers don’t rep the guild but that is to be expected. With our numbers we usually see around 4-5 repping at any one time (usually more on weekends).
• We do random all mesmer dungeon events, which are loads of fun. This ofc depends on who’s repping at the time but when the call goes out from someone, usually at least one jumps in.
• We do random all mesmer team queues in PvP. Let me just say this is fun. One night we somehow ended up against an all necro team. It was classic.

would really appreciate it if you founded the guild sevans. i think Favorable Winds is a very good name. I really like the system that the mesmer guild has with the teacher, student and leader ranks. but i think the names should differ in a way to make the guild more ranger-specific. we could do an all ranger pvp tournament sometimes. Is there and server whose ts we could use for communication? and how would we get the new members? should it be international and server independant?

Alright, well I went ahead and formed Favorable Winds [Wind] so that I can get started on some of the guild upgrades.

I’ll put up a larger post (like the Mesmer guild post) later today, maybe early tomorrow. In the meantime, if you want in just send me a PM here and I’ll send invites when I get home from work.

I’m on Maguuma, but I want this to be available to any Ranger on any server. Don’t currently have a TS server, as I’ve always just used Skype (can’t argue with free,) but if there are enough people and they really want it, I’ll consider it. I’ll also set up a spvp arena in the following weeks, depending on how well received this is.

How about naming it [POWR] for Power Rangers? It may sound like a pun, but its quite catchy and all rangers can easily recognize it. If the guild expands you can easily rename it to [POWR] for Powah Rangers, or Pwng Rangers, etc.

Either ways, regardless of how the guild is named, send me an invite. I am currently the ranger class leader for the guild I represent, which is a T1 guild in the Black Gate war council, and I will be looking to recruit capable rangers for our pushes. Naturally they can continue to represent the ranger guild as it is a community guild for rangers.
