One would think that the Tiger would be found by now with all the people running around exploring and doing events. I spent more time than I care to admit trying to locate it that I’m starting to think it’s not available. x_O

I asked 2 people in-game who were Anet employees with their tag above their head and also submitted a request for the location of the pets but all of them said, they didn’t know or don’t know where they are.

Like seriously!? They made the game and they don’t know where they are!

Been trying to farm Dragons Stand event for the past 3 days and not one group was able to beat it cause the bosses kept respawning, miscommunication, or people just didn’t know what to do and even if people knew what to do, the miscommunication on when to kill the bosses at the same time, failed and one of the bosses would respawn.

Like seriously Anet!? They went too overboard for the Dragons Stand event especially to just obtain a kitten Electric Wyvern!

I’m prediction that they will add raids to the HoT now that every thing is ok, and some where on the way to the raids, we will find tiger. That’s my personal opinion. For sure we wont find tiger in Fractals, because they stated all pets are in Maguuma forest.

So while doing the legendary wyvern in VB I saw a ranger with a tiger.. but they went so fast I didn’t see there name to pm them and they wont answer in map chat

I can confirm that reddit post. Go to the Northern Advance Camp after finishing the map event and go south to the hill with the explore point. Tigers are in the area south past the gate.

So we just beat Mordremoth and I can confirm that the Juvenile Tigers and Juvenile Electric Wyverns are there….but you only have 12 minutes to explore the place until the map closes…

You also have first come first serve and it takes forever for them to respawn. The tigers and electric wyverns are near each other but on a different platform on the map to the northwest of Dragons Domain. Electric Wyverns are at the Hero Point and Tigers are slightly southwest on a different platform from where the Tigers are.

Our technique in beating Mordremoth was awesome communication through TeamSpeak or a form of VOiP, it extremely helps a whole lot! Especially at the very end after the 3 bosses.

Edit: I actually saw 4 individual spawns of this, and they respawn pretty quick after being tamed

Aaah, the damage of furious pounce… sweet, sweet opener, like drakes but easier to land, faster recharge AND controllable!

Went to the area shown for the tiger and still nothing.

So both the tiger & electric wyvern are gated behind that 2 hour event chain.

Back to Mes, again.

I don’t even mind waiting for rare pets, because I’m happy to be patient.

But, a timed jumping puzzle, where you get kicked out after a few mins?

That is just sadistic, frankly.

I’m a happy, chilled out, positive person on Mes.

But, almost as soon as I log onto my Ranger, I turn into a bad tempered, suicidal lunatic.

That is how badly Rangers are (consistently) treated, in this game.

Nice findings guys. In only 4 days we found our new pets, i didn’t expect it to be so hard lol.

I can only imagine they put the electric wyvern and the tiger behind this Byzantine process because they are probably meta pets. I know the tiger is, I was very impressed in beta with it. As for the electric wyvern, in beta I wasn’t that impressed.. but then maybe I was using it wrong or not understanding its mechanic well enough. Regardless, one day I will be there and get them both.

Then I will put tiger out, go full druid, put the tiger between me and the mob, put Solar Beam on auto attack, then go for coffee.

That’s not all, that final dragon event can bug out right at the moment of the boss reaching 0% HP!

Ouch. I’m fine with a pet being gated behind a major event. But not two for the same event… I got the electric and now I’m kicking myself for not finding the tiger in that short window of time we have after the event. I just assumed the tiger was gated behind a different event, not the same one. Plenty of time for people to get the event sorted out at least.

I can just imagine the uproar if they gated a new necro minion like this. Or a cool new special-skilled illusion for mesmers. Or a new Elemental for ele. But its the ranger class, so everyone is cool with it.

I don’t mind pets being hard to get. But I find it odd that the ranger class is the only class that has to play group content (and coordinated group too, not just a pug) to get a major component of their class function. Even after the change were you can technically get all your elite skills on any class now without doing any group HP, the ranger is the only class that has to go through this crap to complete them.

This is totally insane. Ranger builds include the use of pets…none of the other characters I play have pets and don’t have to jump through hoops to just get them in order to actually use their abilities.

Note to Anet: You really need to revisit this issue. As a ranger, I am stuck not having any of the new pets found in the jungle because of major event gating?

I don’t have a problem having to search for them, but once found they should be able to be tamed without having to go through the pain and agony of major events that don’t affect other players needing a pet for their build.

To add to all of that I’ve seen a few forum threads of people complaining about too many rangers in that meta event because so many of us are trying to get both of those pets.

Like… if I do it on my guardian I won’t be able to relog and get my ranger so you’ll just have to deal with it. That’s if we even beat the event, which I haven’t been able to do so far.

I can confirm the tiger location. Also I’d like to add that there is a delay of about 3 minutes after the dragon’s death that they start spawning.

Wow, casual players will never get those pets. Sounds like a clear message that those two animals are for well organized groups only.

Three minute delay? When we only have 15 minutes to explore? Sigh. Maybe that’s why I didnt see it when I got the wyvern.

I did this in a pug map today and we alllmost won. Should be more possible on a regular basis in a few weeks. I still think it should only one pet locked behind the event, not both. Would be cool if wyvern was this map’s ‘prize’ and the tiger was after another map’s meta. Mix it up a bit.

I did poke around while the event was on the Big Bad and did not see any juvies, so we probably need a total win. On that note, if one of them was available at the midway point that would still be a little better.

There are posts in the HoT forum of people complaining that the meta event has too many rangers trying to get their pets and the event fails because they don’t do enough damage….

This really sucks this is like the 5th time in a row I have wasted 2 hours trying to get a tiger and I was Finally in a map that was killing the last thing only to have the game crash on me and no way to get back in the instance even though I had like full 200% participation and was there from the beginning. I can understand pets being hard to get but seriously that much time for a tiger when it was a very common type pet in guild wars 1 it was very low lvl to get one it was outside the starter zone. Its just frustrating trying to get the new pets because seems like every time you finally get in a good map before he dies you crash and cant get back in and get no rewards or anything for your 2 hours wasted. Sigh guess I will have to spend 8+ hours again tomorrow trying to get a ranger pet

I had the exact same thing happen.

It does not matter if you win the map, if you crash, you lost your chance.
I could not even get to the chest before it crashed.
The Instance Saving is not working at all.

Completed the whole map with my guild 3 times in the past 1 day already lol. It’s so much more easier when you have someone talking on teamspeak telling people what to do in 3 different channels and each channel designated for each lane North, South, and Central in TeamSpeak.

I don’t blame Anet for placing 2 pets behind chain events, I blame all the Beta Testers who thought this was a great idea to gate ranger pets, considering none of the other are (not counting ‘special’ pets ie monument of fame ones).

I have spent around 12 hours total, give or take. Only one map made it to the dragon, but it bugged out.

Definitely a little frustrating.

OMG! Finally got all of the new pets! Ty to everyone giving feedback on locations! Still think they should not put them at the end of a huge meta event AND giving you only 12 minutes to get them AND only spawning 1-2 at a time every 2-3 minutes! I literally got the LAST tiger seconds before the map kicked us out.

Different jobs. A person whose job is to test necromancer skills isn’t going to know about ranger stuff.

Not everybody knows where everything is, and IIRC, ALL anet employees have to work to unlock their stuff ingame. They don’t get any free passes.

Course, it’s quite interesting and not surprising to hear complaints of too many rangers. Not in the sense of “OMG RANGERS SUCK.” (Because I don’t follow that mentality at all, it’s stupid), but because lack of diversity in skills. Like in GW1 where you would have 7-8 dervish players all trying to cap avatar of balthazar from the one boss enemy, and getting utterly destroyed. Go out with a standard, diverse group (I did it with heroes, who had fairly good builds), and the guy is not that hard to kill.

I managed to get the smokescales, fire wyvern, and bristlebacks on my two rangers (well, the bristleback is super easy to get, so my main will be able to cap that one.), and it was… ish annoying levels.

Since the smokescales are event locked (I managed to find an instance that had completed the chain and spawned then, so I rushed in and grabbed one, and had my friend come grab the other. Used a teleport to party member device to get my other range from fire wyvern spot to tangled depths SCAR camp).

I kinda wish, after doing this, that ranger pets were account wide unlocked. <_<.

Not possible.

This is beyond stupid. I don’t have time to try the event chain multiple times just for a tiger. Which is annoying because it’s the only HoT pet I really wanted. I’m not saying it shouldn’t be difficult, but it shouldn’t rely on so many little things out of my control for me to succeed. Just my 0.02$.

Guess now I’ll have to wait two months for pugs to get their kitten together.

So a ranger could make an announcement in chat that they’re there and you can friend them and use teleport to friend to get them? They could taxi you there?

I got my Tiger!

Took me since launch but I finally did it!

The boss of dragons stand is insane, but we did it with a PUG just being coordinated over the map chat.

I took an active role in the attempt also, ushering people in with the LFG and doing what the commanders said.

Was worth all the effort!

Just keep trying and you can get yours too!

P.S. Bring a teleport to friend if you want the Electric Wyvyrn, makes it a ton easier.

why would you put the E Dragon behind a 2 hour rare meta event, and a jumping puzzle on a short duration time limit? thats stupid

I don’t mind the pets being gated behind a big meta event, not too much anyways. What bugs me though is the fact that we have to race and compete with other players in order to tame the things. I don’t want to be the jerk who snatches a tiger from under the eyes of a fellow ranger! This is the sad thing about it … but yeah, just saying

Even if you did, unless you or another mesmer with lv4(or was it 5?) gliding that speeds up your glide had it, getting to the pet is impossible… at least so far assuming there’s no other way to it. I spent 15mins asking for anyone, since I had teleport to a friend item, to add me as a friend if they reached to that hero point where e wyvern is. Had no luck.

So essentially, the Tiger maybe behind a 2-3hour event… but e wyvern is worse off by being gated behind a lv4/5 mastery. I’m just tired now though.. I don’t care anymore. Anet certainly doesn’t. Live with it or wait til I get my mastery done I guess.

I got my tiger today! Finally was able to get through Dragon’s Stand without dcing. Well, actually I did dc once early in the event but I was in a group and was able to get back in. When I found them I put up my tag and told all the rangers to come get their tigers (seems a lot didn’t know where they were).

Happy to have my tiger, but these guys really shouldn’t be locked behind such an event.

Right, so IMO the best way to know where the Juvenile Tigers are (without having to try to save a tangled, viney mess of a map in your head!) is this:

They are roughly at the intersection (if you drew two straight lines) of the ‘e’ in the “Northern” of “Northern Barbed Gate” (to the North) and the Dragon’s Domain waypoint (to the West).

Best way to get to them is:

1. Go to the Northern Advance Camp waypoint (which should be open, if the event succeeds).
2. Go to the Vista directly South of “Northern Barbed Gate”.
3. Face South from the Vista and you will see a vine-covered opening (which will clear when the event succeeds).
4. Go through the opening and you will see them straight away. They are not hidden at all and you should have plenty of time, so don’t panic.

Apparently, it’s OK, from that POV.

I was told by a guildie (thank you!) that you don’t have to compete for them.

What happens is that, when you Charm one, the one you Charmed despawns for you, but not for other players/Rangers.

So, there should always be the same number available for everyone.

Finally completed the new pet collection. Was worth it just for the Tiger!
