Ranger Movement Speed Options compared to Eng/Thief.
I don’t need extra speed because I can slow my enemy down to a level where they have no chance to escape.
Yes agree 100%, we run like we are a heavy plate armored class instead of a light armored class. Let’s not forget our movement is decreased because our pet is attacking as well now how lame is that. Oh another thought, imagine that in pvp when your trying to catch a mob but because your pet is running your movement speed is also reduced “snared”. I hope they fix it big time
I agree that I wish the Ranger would just move faster. Honestly, the Warhorn is basically a required weapon because of the movement speed boost.
It would be nice if the trait that increase our pet’s movement speed would increase ours as well.

We wear medium armor not light….

What this game calls light armor isn’t really armor at all, it’s cloth. :P
You say ‘only warhorn’ like it’s a bad thing.
The warhorn is a great item, and it provides more than just a speed boost.

Hunter’s Call isn’t very good. I can do over three times the damage with my shortbow ‘1’ attack without the bleeds in the time it takes to cast it and output the damage.
The Ranger doesn’t only have swiftness on the warhorn. And there is more to movement speed then simply swiftness.
Swiftness:
Warhorn
Shortbow
Rampage As One (With a 120 second cooldown, this is viable to use in Worlds PvP)
Storm Spirit (With the “spirits can move and follow you” major trait)
Tail Wind (A minor trait that gives you swiftness on weapon swap, when in combat. But getting in combat is easy enough; just send your pet to attack a nearby mob)
Birds (Aim at a target that’s a great distance from you, and then call the pet back as soon as it gives you swiftness, if you don’t want to agro the mob. Use the major trait Concentration Training to make the swiftness last 15 seconds instead of 10. Practice makes perfect)
Other:
Signet of the Hunt (10% increased movement speed is great)
Shortbow (Use the ‘turn 180’ key to make the jump move you forward, instead of back)
Greatsword (Swoop makes you leap forward. This skill will actually move you forward faster then the warhorn, because of the short cooldown)

Kasama has got it down pretty kitten good
Hey, the added +1 to the side? Kasama gets my first!
You can add elementalist (air staff skill / heal) and guardian (utilities) and warrior (banners) to this list. They can keep the run speed buffs going 100% of the time if need be. My Theif is low level (teens), but where are they getting movement speed from? Mine has none.
You want bad movment options necromancers warhorn run is also an AoE. They use it, run past anything non argo, it now wants to kill them as well lol.
Mesmer also seemed to get the short end of the movement stick (not even sure they get any at all). Mine is also just in the teens, and running slower then a mofo.

Now take all of that and everything that is required to get a bonus to movement speed on the Ranger and compare it to permanent 25% movement speed(Thief) and permanent 33% movement speed(Engineer), and you basically come back down to Warhorn, or god forbid greatsword being required.
Honestly, just move Signet of the Hunt to 20% and things would be fine. We still wouldn’t be up to par with the other two Adventurer classes but we would at least be close.

Kasama has got it, and don’t forget you can use the sword’s 2-skill similarly to the shortbow skill. Spin, hit it, spin, hit it. Huuuuuge leap.
But no matter how you slice it, we have to work to get even the tiniest amount of mobility while thieves, engineers, and even warriors have it pretty kitten easy.
Warriors can Bull’s Charge, Rush, Whirlwind, Savage Leap, get a tier-1 major trait that increases movement speed with melee weps (doesn’t even need a u-skill like ours). All of them are far, far easier to use than spinning around, and leaping all over the screen or sending pets to attack far-away targets, etc.
