Ranger No stealth - Detect stealth skill?
bumb for justice
Why? Because he doesn’t need it. This isn’t WoW, or any other game for that matter that uses a generic copypasta stealth system. It works totally different here.
There is a skill you can use though. They’re called Channeling skills and ranger probably has the best one.

Implying longbow is viable in any form of pvp. to use the #2 skill.
Unless you go pvp in zerg there is slim chance you will ever kill anyone in 1vs1 using longbow

Ranger has stealth. 2 different sources in fact.
Saladtha (Lv 80 salad sidekick to bears) | Dunelle (Lv 80 eviscerating muppet)
Karmell (Lv 80 human might dispenser) | Vast says hi~.
I’m not going to get into a back and forth, but honestly the Ranger could use a utility that allows stealth. And please notice that I said “could”. I didn’t say that Rangers have to have a stealth ability or needs to have one. All i’m saying is that it seems practical that the Ranger could have a utility that allows stealth
Try the Axe. It has the uncanny ability to bounce from a visible to an invisible target.
(both targets need to be within range of its bounce)

Maybe add a pet skill that sniffs out characters in stealth. Some kind of AoE debuff perhaps.
no more stealths please.. Stealth is really poorly designed in this game, so less classes can access it the better.

I’m not sure why you are trying to push for a stealth reveal, when the only problem with stealth is the Thief. It makes a lot more sense to tone down the stealth for the Thief, instead of making new skills for the Ranger.
The Ranger already has two sources from which you can gain stealth. One is the trait Hide in Plain Sight, which gives you 3 seconds stealth when you are disabled, the other is from the saimoth pet skill Forage, which has a 2/3 chance of giving you a 3 seconds stealth skill.

I’m not sure why you are trying to push for a stealth reveal, when the only problem with stealth is the Thief and Mesmer. And Mass Invisibility, Veil and a Thief’s Mass Invisibility (House) and their other utilities that makes their team mates invisible
Fixed!

I don’t want to turn this into yet another Thief stealth topic, but you just can’t compare the Thief and Mesmer when it comes to stealth.
- The Mesmers stealth works as it should; short durations, with long recharge times. The Thief’s stealth is endless, has short recharge times, and the Thief gets a ton of bonuses on top for being in stealth.
- Only very few Mesmers play a full stealth build, whereas 99% of Thieves play full Cloak and Dagger stealth builds.
- You only get a maximum of 14 seconds of stealth as a Mesmer, if you use all four stealth skills. While you can get 10+ seconds of stealth with a Thief, from just one skill.
- The Mesmer has next to no swiftness and movement skills, so while being in stealth, you know he won’t get far. The Thief can get permanent swiftness, and has a ton of mobility and shadowstep skills.

@Kasama
Fact is, both classes have stealth. Both classes have mass invisibilities, thus stealthing other unstealthable classes. So in regard to the OP’s argument, it wouldn’t be just an “anti thief” skill, since it was a generalization of all classes who have access to stealth, whether or not their stealth is overpowered. Which was all I was insinuating.
In fact, a Ranger anti stealth skill would be a counter to another Ranger’s camouflage, if both of the OP’s suggestions were added.
But don’t worry about it, Anet wouldn’t do anything like this because Ranger’s are Beast Masters, not actual Hunters, Rangers or Scouts.
Stealth could be as fixed as easily as: “taking damage during stealth ends stealth,” since it is the only thing the game truly offers no hard counter for.
As far as rangers having access to an on demand stealth skill….
there are literally a million other things I would rather see happen first with the ranger class before something like a stealth ranger skill is implemented, since rangers would gain literally nothing from being able to go stealth, other than just to do it.
