Guild Wars 2

Hello all.

This will be my first time playing ranger and i would like suggestions for a exclusive PvE build (No dungeons, Fractals, Raids) just for map completion and have it as my hopefully HoT main (New maps). I am currently looking at two builds either full power zerker or condition damage, i have never played a condi class, so i am thinking of giving it a try. What do you guys think?

You can certainly go to full Berserker gear. However, just keep in mind this will make you very squishy. The enemies you will face in the jungle hit hard. If you are comfortable with dodges and using them appropriately without wasting them I say give it a shot. Also, make sure you have some emergency utilities to help get you out of tight spots. I think conditions are a good choice as well, maybe go with a stat that gives good condition damage and some survivability though I am not too familiar with condition builds, but they certainly seem fun.

I personally spec into BeastMastery and choose high damage (Birds) pets to help me out. Rotating them appropriately without receiving the 45sec penalty when your pet dies certainly helps. I have a more tanky build with BM spec and it works great for me.

So if you go full dps make sure you are dodging correctly, and are making full use of your pet to help you. Also utilities that will help you avoid damage to yourself and help you get away such a Lightning Reflexes. Addition: I recommend a pet that immobilizes to keep the enemy at bay. Or if you spec into Beastmastery, you can always pick the trait that allows your pet to taunt to keep them away from you.

If you enjoy using longbow, I definitely recommend going full glass. LB hits hard, but it attacks pretty slowly and it will be extremely frustrating to try to kill things in tankier gear like soldier’s. LB is super ridiculously easy to use, so even if you’re not the best player in the world you should be able to survive easily in full glass.

If you want to try condi, ranger is one of the best.

You can use rabid instead of sinister/viper. It’s a lot easier to get.

Thank you Kiba. And yes, I agree that i need to get out of harms way while in full berserker, otherwise is death. How is your damage output with tanky gear?

@Fluffball Thank you. That’s one of the guides i was reading earlier today. I am thinking of going full berserker until 80 and once i get to the new zones change my equipment to either Rabid/Sinister/Viper depending on which one is easier to get and work my way up.

You can get rabid with dungeon tokens, so if you’re like me that’s completely free. Most of my alts are in dungeon armor.
