It seems that the opening strike traits work now. For whatever reason, this made me think back to GW1 spike builds…

Suppose you have 5 rangers with opening strikes and longbows. If they all use Hunter’s Shot, each of them will apply 15 stacks of vulnerability. Each of their pets will proc opening strike, applying an additional 5 stacks each. 20 stacks of vulnerability per person = 100 stacks of vulnerability (!!!)

Follow that up with rapid fire and I think you should have some serious damage. I didn’t put much thought into this and I’m not sure if 100 stacks of vulnerability is actually possible, but I’m just curious to see if anyone has tried this out yet. It seems like it would be pretty effective.

And rapid-fire is not “serious damage”

Just reading ‘Ranger Spike Build’ make me chuckle.

But only for a moment. Then I sobbed quietly.

Ahh nevermind then, I didn’t bother to look up the vulnerability cap.

I figured it would be serious damage with 100 vulnerability, but whatever. Point is moot with the 25 cap.

Opening strikes are still good traits, with remorseless and longbow – in pve! Guaranteed crit from you and pet, plus easily stack 20% vuln. for 20% more incoming damage, that’s pretty huge imho. A little difficult to build around for regular spvp though.
