Ranger- Staff/Scepter/Focus weapons
Sounds like a Sylvari Elementalist … Scepter and focus for ranger? Na. Melee Staff? Yes.
“Mentoring engineers / mesmers and showing you what you can do with your fantastic class!
Just pm me for my advice! Always eager to help!”

Rangers are part Druid. so makes sense.
Rangers do not own any magic powers. They are based on their strength, battle technique and knowledge about the nature. To manipulate the nature is the elementalists part. The only thing a ranger with a scepter and a focus would be able to do is to dance together with some grawls around a fire … :P

I can see it now. The new kick-the-ranger meta: Staff-Bear!
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
Staff (melee/close range) would be awesome. Some “melee” attacks and some nature magic spells.
But Scepter?….no need scepters are always boring and donĀ“t fit the druids style.

Actually the Ranger profession is made of multiple archetypes, one being the Warden and why we have Nature Magic section of our traits. Plus the many nature magic utility, heal, and elites we have.
“At one point in development, according to The Making of Guild Wars 2 book, the ranger profession of the original Guild Wars was split into many different professions, notably the Warden and the marksman. Eventually, with only marksman remaining, who only possessed only the aspect of ranged weaponry, was combined with already scrapped elements of warden and beastmaster, and renamed the result as ranger for the sake of the original series.”
“Rangers are flexible and durable—proficient with the bow, yet surgical with the sword. They rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature to slay their targets. Their loyal pets, which rangers tame and train, distract enemies while the rangers strike safely from a distance.”
“Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.”
After this year+ it seems pretty clear the Ranger “master of ranged” that many think is the Archetype of this profession is not necessary the direction Anet wants to go w/the Ranger.
We all know the Ranger is not the best at ranged, and we also know the limitations of our pets, leaves (tinfoil hats on please) the Warden!
Staff please.

I’d really love to see a Scepter for Ranger. Mostly because I want another ranged 1H option that hopefully isn’t so terrible for damage like Axe.
5) Druid Form Seed is summoned- that transform the allies that consume Seed into a random creature based on Archetype (Soldier / Adventure/ Scholar) gaining 6 unique skills.
this skill really intrigues me.
I also would like to add that yes the Ranger class does use Nature Magic.
So I dont see anything wrong with this.
I don’t see a melee staff ever being added to the ranger because the current staffs in game are very magicy totem looking. Some would look extremely awkward being smashed on people.
I also just don’t think nature wizard is Anet’s vision for the class at all. More like fighter (I would literally choose the word “ranger”) that uses nature to help his fights.

I don’t think the staff visuals would be that off-putting, if memory serves me right, Gandalf would hit things/people physically with his lovely staff in Lord of the Rings.
For scepter, I don’t want to see any magic stuff in it.
Instead, I want it to be a pure beastmaster weapon.
Auto attack- It would grant a attack of opportunity to the target. Then the pet will do 100% of the ranger’s damage. In return, the ranger does 0 damage.
Skill 2- Immobilize
Skill 3- 5 stacks of vulnerability to target and might to pet.
Focus-
Skill 4- Shadowstep pet to target
Skill 5- Grants protection to pet and ranger.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
for gods sake, we are rangers
You know what I think of when it comes to rangers? Aragorn from LOTR
Not a kitten wizard hybrid.

Aragorn doesn’t have a pet. Your point is moot.
