Ranger Staff skill
If you killed a druid in GW1, it spawned creatures from the underworld. I wonder if there is a legit lore tie-in to the dragons or gods or something. I know the lore people went completely nuts on fleshing these things out, and then never told us most of it.
It might influence the flavor of the staff skills, like mimicking mordrem skills. Probably will have nothing to do with the game play, but whatever.
Are those the ones that chase me around and I’m forced to gs block or die?
If that’s what you thinking, nty. Thats about as skilless a skill could be made. Even more so than entangle + Madking runes!
Hey great idea! I can super wreck people within 600 range!
Entangle + Madking runes + Chasing aoe vines of Doom = No Survivors

Yep, that one. I like the visual part of the skill. It’s a bit annoying to fight a Champion that has like 20 stability before you can interrupt it… But well, it still looks super cool. Unless you are not standing in it, that is.
The leeching Thrasher’s ranged attack? I’m under the impression you can dodge it by moving into melee with them. Get close when they try to hit with tendrils and keep your distance when they try to leech. I can’t say it’s my favourite attack animation though, I usually see my health mysteriously dropping and panic roll before I realise what’s causing it.

Entangle is one of the most telegraphic immobilize skills out there…
There’s only 1 skill of ranger that shows a stomp animation, so you should avoid it 100% of the time if you see that action.
the Mordrem Thrasher roots , entice the target to take action by forcing you to move and give up ground its not skill less at all , if the skill is used off a cap point or away where its effects can not catch up it’ll do no damage nor hit the target , it’ll only work well in small spaces and that requires skill of postioning.
i’d say its a good idea for a single target Area denial.

Remember the hoax where someone made a screenshot of one of them dropping ectos and then people started farming them, yet never getting one to drop? lol
I kind of puzzle about druid themeatically.
When Ranger is sticking to the ‘physical’ side of things they’re more or less void of theme with a few noteworthy edges cases (spikes). When they do get more ‘magical’, they can visually step on Elementalist or Syvari/Mordem toes, with the exception of that sort of underdeveloped ‘mobs with transparency shaders’ line of thinking.
Druid having a staff and being so traditionally magical, sort of leaves me with the impression they need need to lean full-on ‘magic’ here. Which is unfortunate as it’s kind of a potluck of visual leftovers than it’s own established identity on Ranger.
On a clarity level I suppose I’m more behind greater development in the Maul/Swoop/Dart/ManoWar/Spirits direction, than an Entangle or Lightning Reflexes direction. To dip into another franchise for a second here; I likes me some Geomancy but Animism is a bit more unique.

I think I get what you are saying and I think I agree? Looks like you are a fan of the animal animations on those skills, I am a big fan of those they just add such flavor to the skills to me. Really hoping Staff get’s one or two at least. I really think adding them to all the weapons we have would be a great idea. Perhaps the druid spirit doing the “Thump” animation it does when we do a particular skill, like a CC.
I also like the idea Tragic put forward, that would be sweet.
@ Heim
I can totally see the ethereal druid that is skyscraper-sized thumping the area for the Entangle skill.
Now that would be one hell of a satisfying animation. (Counter-play aside)
Do people really not realize you can just interrupt the Thrasher to stop the roots?

IKR, just because its a skill animation, doesn’t mean it has to happen before or during the application of the effect. If they made it happen immediately after the effect, then it is just a sort of marker showing that it has been used and then their allies can assist those trapped. Also, when your allies see it, they know where to AoE Same as the DH chained area on LB #5, kinda.

Check my 1st reply.
… And a point that this is visual-based topic only. There’s no need to bother by mechanics at this point. Everything’s been decided anyways, but fantasizing is a good topic, is it not?

Personally if there was a staff skill where we slammed our staff on t he ground and did the mordrem vines i’d be pretty happy.

You shall not pass.
Combo of all three. Slam the staff, druid spirit “spectre animation” spirit does it’s “slam” and mordrem vines go out and CC, all at the same time. Oh yeah. Omg yeah.
I hope that Rangers can utilize it like a combat staff, you know the ones which are used in melee combat, instead of just a magic staff…
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.
Bo-staff stuff?
I wouldn’t find it druidy… But I love it as a non-related art. That’s why I taken up on it but unlike archery I suck at bo-staff.
Revenant is having Melee staff, so imo, druid will be ranged magic staff.
