Ranger Upcoming Changes to Skills
I really don’t think they do much. I’ve been trying to make Druid work without healing, but it’s not going well. You need over 1000 healing for Druid to be viable. I don’t see it working anyway.
Druid only works with Menders amulet. All else fail. They removed all build diversity last patch.
Edit: Sage might work with Druid runes. Trying that now.

ive actually been finding seeker base ranger to be pretty nasty, i run nm,bm,mm trooper sunes lb gs. with protect me, guard, and sig of renweal
Well the one that gain the most from those two thing is the condi guard… With the pvp only change made to them these 2 things will make the pvp community cry blood tears. I don’t even understand how they could miss that… The change on virtue of justice could be ok in pve but in pvp it will hurt a lot.
As for the ranger… well they do not need the extra health and without it, the amulet already exist. As for the rune… well it won’t give anyhting that a ranger “need”. If the extra bonus was “remove a condition whenever you gain regeneration. ICD 5 seconds” that would probaly be a must have rune for any ranger… Well any profession would welcome it…
Yeah the movement speed bonus rune isn’t really necessary for Ranger/Druid. Druid normally has traited shouts, and Condi you have permanent swiftness on shortbow.

I had more fun with my Druid when I got out of the mindset that druid was only for healing. I have so much fun on my bleed Druid now, but will be sticking with the amulet and rune I currently use.
I have no intentions of going back to a pure heal build.

Would you mind posting your bleed build? I would be very interested in seeing it.
Thank you,

I didn’t say Druid is only for healing. I said it only works with healing power. It’s weak without it. Good players will have advantage on other classes or same class. At least, I cannot find a competitive build that has little to no healing power.
If you have one, I would like to try it, in all seriousness.

Condi druid/ranger is very strong right now and requires 0 healing power. I run ranger in pvp Skirm/WS/BM and rarely have trouble with group fights or 1v1’s
@Archon, this is what I run
I guess I am not sure what you mean by very strong. Once you get to a certain level of mechanical skill, you should be able to defeat most foes who are not at the same level with any well thought out build.
But what happens against other players who are on the same mechanical skill level as you and using HoT specs? Are you beating them too? I really don’t think the core specs holds up to the elite specs in PvP.
Thus, my axiom that PvP requires Druid, which in turn requires healing power, which in turn requires Menders, or maybe Sage for Condi, which rules out precision based Condi from Druid.
I could be wrong. I would love to try some new builds. I am going to give Gussjr’s a try.

no stun breaks except for the 1 passive?, how do you deal with warriors
also natural stride and sig of the hunt are redundant
also natural stride and sig of the hunt are redundant
Yeah, I can never make these kind of builds work, without a few stun breaks and Condi clears.
My initial thought is survival is dependent on running constantly. That’s it. The signet is probably there for when natural stride gets dropped in combat. Like a berserk build, unload everything and kill them before they kill you. But berserk build has much more utility, knockback, invisibility, and evasion on sword. Seems risky this build…

Why would there have been any changes to Druid in this patch?
We haven’t even had a real PvP season or tournament to stress test the last round of nerfs to even determine if Druid will remain as strong/viable as it was in S3/S4 PvP with the healing splits/reductions and increased CA cooldown.
They aren’t going to revert anything they’ve nerfed, ever. And we definitely weren’t going to be getting any buffs, least of all to builds actually used in the meta.
The new condi amulet + the shortbow changes last patch could lead somewhere. Probably not, because builds with healing power capitalize the thing Druid is best at in the widest variety of gameplay situations for PvP, but hey, optimal and viable are different things.

@Archon, It takes some getting used to, I admit. But its very natural for me now. Dodges, 3 on short bow, constant f2 usage, and the proc on weapon swap along with ancient seeds. You do have to be aware of where your enemies are located (quick camera panning, etc). Having a group that can focus down targeted enemies is always nice too. (if you have a problem with lag, though, this might not be a good build for you)
I have some youtube videos of it as well, but haven’t done any in a few weeks.
@Eleazar, I agree with warriors being tricky – more with their blocks and invuln skills than their knockbacks (as most of them are transferred to my pet any how). The bleeds melt them when those skills are on cooldown.
Again…really just takes some getting use to, I just like the feel of it I guess, and it really favors my playstyle.
There are a few other variants of condi-druid out there as well. So if this one doesn’t work, keep looking for one that you may like. Good luck!

It is still a weak build …
Traited survival skills for stunbreaks/condi remove/mobility would be better than your mix of utility skills. And wanderers amulet (or the new one) over viper, because it offers more precision (= more bleeds) and some defense.
Overall i don’t think, condi builds will be able to compete with the meta power/support focused build in higher tier PvP. Offensive condi builds (skirm traitline) don’t have enough pressure to compensate for the lack of sustain. Maybe if it would be possible to use both bleeds on crit and traited traps like in the past, but this would require a complete rework of the whole traitline. And condi bunker builds lack utility/support compared to power builds.

I think I am going to make a run this season on condi longbow and see where I can get. I think I will be starting in amber or emerald as I havnt played since S2. Maybe the reduced CD on the wilderness skills will carry me to legend tier lols.

When druid first came out I tried condi staff and the damage even on a stationary test golem was so bad I couldn’t kill it. However I’m with you, I’m sort of determined to play this season with a condi build. I don’t want to do power LB again, and healing is so blasé.
If I wind up close to legendary which is unlikely since I PvP like once a month these days, I’ll switch to something more traditional . This season is likely the only chance I’ll have to ever make it that far. I don’t have time for grinding anymore with a bebe so maybe I’m actually skilled enough to pop this out.

Ha, thanks. He’s already level 1 so I lost out on the first 4 seasons. Made it to diamond in one and that felt like I’d made it all the way, being able to play a max of like 3 games a day. I have no idea what my MMR is like or should be like at this point. Should be interesting at least.

You need over 1000 healing for Druid to be viable.
To be viable? Not really. Not at all actually, depends on how you use it.

So with zero planning or thought, I slapped together this. I haven’t used a SB since spirit ranger was a thing and I am not used to these utilities at all so playing like garbage, but I still won most of my fights. I think there might be something to this. Got bounced around like a pinball though due to no stability and minimal stunbreaks, I need to fix that somehow. I also ignored condi duration, no idea if I’m hitting breakpoints. I hate that part of the game. Need to look at that as well. Probly need to take shared anguish at a minimum. Edit: Also I should probably focus on bleeding rather than burn with my equipement, just realized it’s a bit of a mess.

there are no break points with condition duration. Think it will dmg down to the last tenth of a second so the last tiny bit will display lower than what you may expect from a condi tic.
I thought it was to the last full second?
I thought it was to the last full second?
nah they changed that like 2 years ago.
Well that’s awesome. Shows how often I play condi ranger.
Edit: Also just saw that you theory crafted an almost identical build in the trapper thread, ha. I guess we know what we’re talking about-ish?

Had some hopes as I read through these “notes” that they rework core classes. What a letdown.
Condi Ranger is not unplayable, but it just gets outclassed by warrior. Maybe it’s slightly better in terms of mobility. Depends on your weapon choice.
Another season with shout trooper for me. I’m not even mad since a lot people still can’t deal with pew pew Druid . Maybe they will remove Mender amulet for more “diversity”, because thats how balance changes work in 2016.

If you’re gonna use SB, I’d just go all out.

This is what i’ve been running, hybrid SB + S/T, you have :
2 stun breaks
an invuln
4 condi clears
and enough damage to hold your own
I like using a hybrid style build and think it works similar to Justines condi LB, most players build to defend against one or the other and not both.

No condi damage? Shortbow is very lacklustre in pure power dps and lack the utility from the sword.

this isn’t a burst build but it deals a good amount of damage over time between the bleeds and the power dps of the SB. I’ve gotten accustomed to the utility of SB#3, SB#5 and I like hitting a close range SB#2 for lots of poison stacks. You could certainly run sw/x on swap.

i love the shortbow so don’t get me wrong, but the bleeds is going to be something like around 400\tick with some luck berfore the bleeds are cleansed.
no might generation means you’ll deal around 700-900 on crit to squeeze target.
i only find usefull sb for a gimmick build that keep immob the target. And for that you need to swap LR for Glyph of equalityand obviusly you need druid.
So you start with Sb#4 if you are behind otherwise SB#5 to proc ancient seeds and proc quickness so the shortbow begins the machine gun song. Because the target is going to freed itself from the first roots as soon as he does you cast entangle and keep him occupied with your pet.
if you are lucky and he is not dead when he freed himself again your smockescale is going to do a knockdown which may proc ancient seeds again, otherwise you may try the pink moa or the glyph to cast it on demand.
But again this is a gimmick build that will not work against experienced players because is really easy to fail or get out from the chain. Also only works in 1v1 combat, using the staff when there are 1vx situations to keep the distance. But for the ones that you kill that way the cries will be heard from your home, i earned a lot of QQ wispering from warriors this way in wvw. If possible try to use the dreamer so they can enjoy the continuos neighing from that wonderful and amazing bow.
