I was just thinking, how do you see us with a rifle? Since we can use harpoongun underwater I can’t see why we cannot use a rifle on land…

would be interesting. Not really going to fill a specific role tho.

I’d rather see main hand dagger. I mean. kitten Necromancer has a groovey main hand dagger, and we have a very situational offhand dagger that few people use. Our main hand dagger should grant 1-0.5 seconds of stealth on last attack of the chain (like lotus blossom poison thieves get from their main hand dagger.)

we do need more main hand weapons.

I’d rather just see Rangers be made the class that’s best with a bow, which is only logical. Until GW2 adds LotR Elves as a class, Rangers should be second to none when it comes to bows.

Yeah, but it was Orlando Bloom who took down 86 Orcs and an elephant thingy using only three arrows and a comically misshapen carrot.

I’d like to see a Rifle set for Rangers. Maybe a shorter range, but with a lot of cones for a shotgun feel. Or some other AoE blasting sort of deal.

1. Buckshot, 600 Range cone, pretty much just damage.
2. Aim Low, 600 Range cone, damage and cripple.
3. Double Barrel, 600 Range cone, high damage, high recharge.
4. Bayonet Charge, 600 Range, Leap Finisher, single target.
5. Beanbag, 900 Range, low damage, knockdown or daze.

Long Bow, Short Bow, Great Sword, Axe & Sword – Not enough weapon choice? not to mention the Sword/Dagger, Sword/Axe, Sword/Warhorn, Sword/Torch, Axe/Axe, Axe/Warhorn, Axe/Torch, Axe/Dagger

That 11 weapon combinations to choose from and yet a Ranger needs a rifle? or more MH choices………..Please its ridiculous to ask for a rifle or more weapons! we have enough already imo.

2 – 1500 range, applies 5 stacks of Vulnerability, Cripples
3 – 1500 range, applies Blind, your pet’s next attack has 100% critical chance
4 – 900 range, cone, 1 second fear
5 – 1500 range, high damage, 100% critical chance against enemies with less than 20% health

20% cooldown reduction trait in Marksmanship T1
Increase the 5 ability’s health % for critical chance to under 30% health in Marksmanship T3

That’s what I’d expect/would like to see from a Ranger with a rifle.

Aragorn was the ranger, spent more time with a sword than a bow and Legolas was an elven soldier.

Aragorn was the ranger, spent more time with a sword than a bow and Legolas was an elven soldier.

That’s exactly what I mean, everyone expect the Ranger to be an Archer. LotR gives us an good example that not every Ranger is an Archer. :P
Btw I play my Ranger as Archer too…so^^

Rifles are a very good idea IMO
Should be something with spread dmg, knockback/stun and a cripple

At the risk of sounding like a stick in the mud, I would rather see them balance the weapons we currently have.

There’s also the more pertinent “obvious roles are currently filled”

Long ranged pew? Longbow.
Medium ranged? Shortbow
Short ranged/mass damage? Axe.

Well, a ranger uses a bow in literature just because in LotR an others there isn’t the right technology… In GW2 we have that, thanks to big kitten chars. So why don’t use it?
We should be the best in aiming, and a rifle need to be aimed if you wanna hit the center.
I saw a good proposal from Beet:

Imo, we already have a vulnerability attack, what if attack 2 is: “Aim libs” 1500 range, average dmg, weakness OR cripple for 10s

While seeing rifles on rangers would be somewhat nice I can’t support the idea, because, as many have said, it wouldn’t bring anything new.

If anything, I’d ask for an offhand sword with more offensive oriented skills or even a staff (nature(spiritual) magic, anyone?)

So topical, actually made me lol. Just watched all LotR films in preparation for the Hobbit, had me running only sword and torch all week. Nothing to do with the topic but LotR was mentioned so i must chime in lol.

i agree, staff would be the cool thing to see

As much as I think it would be a cool concept to be able to use a rifle, I don’t believe that Ranger’s should have the rifle ability. Ranger’s have always been a duel wielding, longbow master, with such skills which people believed they where involved in witchcraft because of their ability to blend into nature to the point that it looks like they disappeared or become as one with nature.

I believe by creating the engineer they created what you guys are asking for. A ranged profession dealing with black powder firearms.
