Heya fellow rangers!

Well, my static and I hit level 11 in FOTM last night, and experienced our first glimpse of agony at Jade Maw.

Up until now was using full power/prec/crit build (berserkers crafted exotic), with superior sigil of battle on LB, and superior sigil of fire on SB, and a good GS for when needed.

I reckon a couple of levels down the line, I will definitely need more survivability, so was wondering if any of you have changed/updated their gear/traits for FOTM?

I was thinking maybe 4 pieces of Knight’s and 2 pieces of Valkyrie, for toughness and vitality, and use superior rune of divinity? Would this be a viable build? (+2 rings from FOTM and spine-guard with agony resistance) earrings and amulet would be power precision crit (to not forgo ALL my damage :P)

Would really appreciate any input from you guys who have experimented with this!

I hate to bump my own.. But would really appreciate any ideas from anyone.. Maybe input your own ideas on how to increase survivability?

my armor is all power toughness and crit(or was that prec….it the knight stuff) with ruby trinkets.

everything has beryl upgrades (power, crit dmg and a bit of vit)

its worked so far (up to level 14) but i switching from my longbow to shortbow…getting extremely pissed at 1500 range longbow making them invulnerable cause they only have 900 range…that and devourer pet makign them invulnerable means that until Anet fixes this random obstructed/miss +the unfair invulnerable glitches, my build isnt that useful.

still if u only on level 11 use this build till u at 14.

greatsword(power,prec,crit dmg) with bloodlust
longbow(power,prec, crit dmg) with quickness

wolf pet(fear)
devourer(that poison thing…anyone notice it the only pet skill that instantly activates?)

If your problem is primarily with agony, then agony resistance is your only option to mitigate it.

For what it’s worth, I haven’t gotten past level 7 in the fractals, so I’ve never experienced agony. But I run a condition build with a mix of Knight’s armor, Rabid armor, and Carrion accessories. Also the karka shell earring I got from the ancient karka event.

Those armadillos would be a lot cooler if they looked more like real armadillos. mmm armadillos

Hello

My build is the following:

Along the way I changed from complete glass cannon to a more toughness/condition oriented build with high crit rate, I find it now more comfortable and definitely better survivability.

I have Prec + toughness + cond damage armor, berserker weapons, and jewels with 1-2 carrion for extra survivability
Works fine for me. I also have 30 on toughness traits, because the defensive skills. “hide in plain sight” and “bark skin” also helps a lot.

With food + selfbuffs + red moa pet my crit rate is continuously above 80%, which means a lot of bleeding and a lot of crits.

weapons: shortbow + axe and warhorn
pets: ranged pets = spiders for damage/disable (some of the spiders have paralize on f2 or good posion)
In case blue moa is also very nicht for aoe protection or as said I use red more for fury.

Heres my take

Go condition build then have all armor and item stats as toughness, precision, condition.

Use the rune that turns 5% of toughness into condition dmg – undead. Buy tuning crystals, this does the same thing.

Sigil use what you want, id suggest a crit procing one as your crit chance is quite high, bleeds for more dmg, health leech for more survive.

use traps

Agony takes away a % of hp i believe so vitality is bad toughness good.

If anyone has any better ideas or questions let me know.
