Ranger condition gear, need advice!
For WvW I’d go more for Dire or Trailblazers if you can afford it as we don’t have too many traits that require precision.
For PvE I’d go for Vipers if you are focusing on dps or Trailblazers if you’re tanking, too. Or Carrion/Sinister if you don’t have HoT.
Okay, I thank you for your advice. I do have HoT, but I just wonder if going Sinister will be super squishy?
But I think I’ve made my mind up anyway on the Carrion/Rabid choice at least, didn’t even think of looking at what traits proc on crit and such, thanks alot mate

For PvE it’ll be fine being a bit squishier as the enemies attacks are generally avoidable/dodge-able but PvP and WvW a little toughness and vitality goes a long way.
I run full exotic carrion atm and I gotta say that it makes no sense. Too much health (26k) with no toughness. Guess I should mix in something else…
What you do get is fun things like this, soaked 23k damage in less than a second, almost killed me… I wonder if thieves have hard time in the jungle, those sharpshooters are nasty.

Yup, you need toughness to help mitigate physical damage, the only real part of PvE that’s much of an issue in is the new HoT maps and perhaps the raids (but not too much in raids as it can mess with aggro)
Carrion works alright if you’re fighting condition based enemies as toughness doesn’t affect conditions but a mix or another stat choice is usually the way to go.
Yeah, I would recommend celestial Armour. It is not for no reason they are removing it from PvP. Then you can get diversity out of changing your trinkets around. You can mix in sinister trinkets for condition focus, berserker for direct damage, more celestial for all around Druid kick#*%, and even soldier or carrion for more tankiness.
PvE heroes always say celestial sux, but they are clueless when it comes to fighting other people.
Illustrious Exhausted Primordial Legendary Druid, and Mesmer for fun

Viper for PvE.
For WvW… Well … Rabid? Carrion? Mix of those? Depending on which enemies are more trouble to you, condi or power (Carrion against Condis is good; Rabid vs Power)
There’s way too many ways how to play.
But you might want to look at this stuff https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/PvE-WvW-Bleed-druid/
For PvE i currently run Carrion armour and Rampager trinkets. My thoughs behind it were:
- that I wanted a crit rate close to 50% (because crits bleed and stuff). It might be, that it would be smarter to set higher prio to condition damage instead.
- I wanted to test the build (its origins were posted here some times ago) and I didn’t want to spend a lot of gold. Carrion was cheap and I had a few ascended Rampager trinkets anyway.
- Because the build uses the ancient seeds from the druid line, the enemy should be stunned/dazed/knocked down as often as possible anyway. This has the nice side effect, that a enemy that fullfills this condition is likely not to harm you in that moment. So, only having the vitality boost from Carrion armor is enough for me, to get by farly well. I dont feel very squishy too it.
I post the build here for reference. It was very quickly done, I don’t remember pecisely which runes/sigils I used, so I put something likely in. Also I change a few of the traits when the situation requires it.
edit I really love playing this build (How could I forget to mention it?!) ;-)
edit 2 Swapped staff to shortbow in the build. I was really not carefull…

Dire is better against both :p
Unless you are using Sharpened Edges, there is no reason to not use dire (or a dire/apothecary mix) for a condi ranger in wvw. The extra power from carrion won’t do much (no precision/critdmg and bad powerscaling of weapons) and precision from rabid is useless without critprocs.
Viper for PVE and Trailblazer for WvW. Can’t go wrong with this!
Really need to tell us at minimum what weapon sets you are utilizing and go from there.
shortbow can also benefit from power/precision/ferocity while axe/torch generally does not. shortbow can be more glass as its got some range than axe/torch which are melee.
My standard condition build. Because I rely on multiple conditions I don’t need as much condition damage. BUT, i often swap Viper amulet when I gave a tanky party.
