Ranger dps, help?
Are you intending on using that for PvP?
Yes, so far it works really well. 5/6 wins.
Not sure what to change, the idea is lots of quickness (your attacks do better sustained over burst) but at the same time it looks like Strength runes/sigils+force works well. Outside of that, burst within sustained damage is handy so on the fence of scholar<—>eagle with fire/air/rage sigils. Really hard to minmax it. Planning to move it to wvw when I get level 80. Thanks in advance for any help.

I honestly cannot see that working in PvP against any decent players.
Steady Focus would nearly never apply its bonus.
Predator’s Onslaught would nearly never apply its bonus.
Instinctive Reaction is applying almost no benefit.
Windborne Notes with no WH. To me, two traits is too much investment for one effect every 30s unless you also have the WH to make the boons perma.
Invigorating Bond with base Healing Power when you could have Protective Ward, mitigation is far better than healing.
Companion’s Might is not really that great for PvP, especially when you have a couple of shouts on your bar, Resounding Timbre would be a better choice.
You have no condition removal.
Scholar runes would nearly never apply its bonus.
Air Sigil is vastly superior to Rage Sigil.
Maybe, but then you are labelling 30 players thus far as “not any decent”. To what you put out, what would you swap them with? Do I need to explain my traits a bit to see if we could make this work better? I truly want this to work, I love power on sword (Predator’s Onslaught is at number 2. It counts cripple) and I love the machine gun on shortbow. And as stated, when you dps test them together without traits shortbow comes ahead of longbow after an extended trade and same on sword to gs. The other reason I like them is your less reliant on hitting big skills (longbow 1 and gs 1 (autos should be fast, right?) take ages) and just the mechanic version of how they work.
But yea, lemme see if I can pull up my current iteration.

Steady Focus applies its damage very often. The idea is to be an outlier in a teamfight, and people ignore shortbow rangers (very oddly, but mentality is shortbow=weak?). It works well enough. And when you get someone trying to assassinate you, pressing the turn and burn combo is enough. You don’t have to dodge half the time.
Predator’s Onslaught counts cripple right now, so the buff is always up while in sword/axe.
Instinctive Reaction offers quickness. That’s enough. That’s far more than enough. I brought the point up, you need consistent damage not burst because your CD is your burst.
WN is gone.
The heal is aoe, not singular. Teamfight based, not dueling. This build still works deceptively well in duels, but you want TEAM fights. And aoe hp is better than singular weak/prot which can be removed pretty easiler in this meta.
Took your advice and got Timbre.
Condi removal isn’t a problem since most people don’t know I exist until I come in and kill them. Deceptive damage is not a lack, its actually a lot.
Scholar turned to ogre.
I run air and rage.
Anything I can improve on? Anywhere I can clarify so we can fix this? I really do appreciate you helping ^.^
If it were me, I’d want to be running some condi duration, at least swapping vigorous training to Evasive Purity.
I have to disagree on Instinctive Reaction, Predators Onslaught and Steady Focus. If you get any benefit from Instinctive Reaction, it means you are also missing out on the other two, if you get the other two, then you get nothing from Instinctive Reaction. For teamfight based builds, Allies Aid is better imo, plus it will also trigger Resounding Timbre.
Also, Healing Spring is bugged atm and does not heal your pet or allies. I would swap it to WHaO for a burst heal and more regen/swiftness (for allies) and 14s less CD.
The heal you get from Invigorating Bond is only 2500. With Protective Ward, you get 26% up time on Prot and a good AoE weaken (helps allies). Again, to me, that is far better than a 2500 heal every 20s, assuming you use your pets F2 on the 20s mark each time. Not only that, but it only has a 300 radius, unless you are in melee with your pet, you will not get the heal.
If you want max DPS, you would be better off dropping NM for SK anyway with Spotter/Quick Draw. Lyssa runes may be nice, at least you can cleanse a condi burst if you get caught, like this maybe. That also turns “SotP!” into a huge buff when you have multiple conditions on you. Marauder/Lyssa would also have 70% crit chance without fury and 21k health. Marauder is not max DPS, but a fair bit more survivable imo.

Finished build for any Ranger looking for a different, but very enjoyable build. ^.^ Takes a bit of getting used to using, but it is so worthwhile. Most fun I’ve had in this game in such a long time.
