Hiya,
I have been roaming on wvw and noticed 2 rangers this past week using mainhand sword skill no. 2 to kite straight ahead in the same direction twice. What I mean is they run, kite straight ahead in the same direction they are moving. Then they immediately kite again a second time still keeping the same direction. I am confused about how they do this, because when I use the skill, first my ranger jumps backwards, not in the same direction I am running.

Can any help me understand how to do this?

They have you targeted and run away from you, so when they use the skill it will automatically turn the character and use the leap away from you. Then they drop the target and use the second leap away from you too.

There is two ways to do this, Lily mentioned one. the other is to use the “About Face” hotkey, which instantly turns your char 180 degrees. This allows you to run in one direction and swap, then use Monarch Leap (first half of the skill) then press the hotkey again and use Hornet Sting (second half).
Add in Swoop on the Greatsword and you can get a very mobile rotation going.
