Ranger longbow skills
well we do have vulnerability (10 stacks) with hunters shot. bleeds, poisons are probably best left to the faster weapons.
While I agree that is should have at least 1 skill that applies some sort of damaging condition, it isn’t as useless as people on this forum may try to make you believe. Longbow’s rapid fire tracks through stealth while barrage is the only aoe ranger’s have. Coupled with 10 stacks of vulnerability and knockback, we actually have a fairly versatile weapon if used properly.
True its is powerful im not dissing the skills at all , you know when you have that feeling something could be added , just making suggestions possibly any ideas we may have could help improve ranger in future

GS is aoe, also barrage has a long kitten cd. Rapid fire is good at tracking through stealth or doing chunks of damage at mid range but other than that its kinda weak. Warriors rifle has a rapid fire skill with same damage in half the time and projectiles. Im gonna make a thread about longbow skill Ideas just to get people on there and posting thoughts and opinions, feel free to do so as well.
Precicion traits mostly benefits only your pet and pets suck. Why don’t you just put first +10 slot bleed from crits, there you get condition dmg whitout useing any specific skill.

Because it only lasts for like 1 second, its not worth it. At best it will add an extra 45 damage too your crits when it procs, worthless.
I’d like to see the #1 attack stack vulnerability with each hit and the #3 strike be turned into some kind of sniping shot that can be done from long range.
It’s no secret that the long bow now is, quite simply, kitten. Assumes that it causes a massive amount of damage at long range but ranger just not able to inflict a lot of damage. So yap… Have to wait until the developers will understand.

I can get down with hunters shot being a sniping skill, makes sense. Id prefere #1 to do flat damage across all the rangers, and have 1500 range untraited, 1800 range traited. Also instead of damage per range it adds crit chance, so at like 0-1k its 10% more crit chance, 1001-1500 its 20%, and 1501-1800 its 30%, that would make the skill and the longbow imo amazing, and alot more sniperish than it is since it would give us great consistent long ranged damage with high crit%. Im sitting at 54% crit chance, with fury thats 74, add another 30% and thats 100%, alot of critting. Although if they did that, they would have to either change rapid fire to be stronger, or same damage but less hits and faster attack speed since #1 would completely eclipse it and make rapid fire pointless too use.
sigh One can dream eh. Well it was a good thought, and anet definitely wont do it.
if you think about it , 1 and 2 seem to do the most damage where 3 gives 1 negative effect and 4 just konckbacks for 2 seconds which isn’t so handy if your facing a group , for 5 well its good cause the cripple but the damage is bad and enemies can walk out of it , this is also where I feel ranger is to weak because you only rely on 1 and 2 to do your damage , that’s why I feel it should have condition atleast
Also knockback doesn’t work on bosses , so your kinda relying on your pet to stay alive while you spam 1 2 for damage
No conditions on the longbow please, that is what the shortbow is for. Only the autoattack skill needs work on the longbow (maybe faster cast time on rapid fire). Other than that please leave longbow alone.
I was a ranger before shortbow had 1200m range AND after it didn’t…

It does work on bosses but only if they have that CC immunity stacks down.

Nah no condis imo, I agree that shortbow is used for that. What we need are better designs of #1 and 2, that would definitely improve our quality of life.
hmmm I guess so , I dislike using a short bow cause I like to have melee/range switch around depending on battle situation , possibly if they looked at the skills add bit more damage to 3 possibly so we don’t have to rely on 1 and 2 all the time
As I posted in an other thread, there’s a very major issue affecting several weapons across professions. It is this issue that is gimping the Ranger’s Longbow and once it’s fixed Longbows will be a lot better.
It is the firing speed of the autoattack, in this case Long Range Shot. It seems to behave erratically from weapon to weapon and many cases makes the #1 skill recast much slower than it should be, crippling the overall offensive output.
In particular, it seems to affect Pistols and Longbows.
