The scholar give around 200 more total damage than ranger however ranger runes increase the crit chance and give a damage bonus when your pet is alive. Which rune is more viable for a WvW roaming ranger?

I’m using Scholar, but Ranger runes are probably better.

Scholar loses its benefit from a tiny bit of damage, even from retaliation.

Ranger will always be better in pvp, since you will almost never be at 90% or more HP. If you think you can win fights without being touched, go with scholar, but that will nearly never be the case, even if you stay behind the zerg.

MINI pets it the key. quaggans don’t fight with you

i know what Scholar runes do:p

well I’d consider Mini pets not even part of the combat system so why should it effect the buffs given on rune sets.

also if you zerg the game Turns off Mini pets, so its not that good for everyone.

ranger for pvp related content and either ranger/ scholar for pve. i’d stick with ranger ( even though i’m using scholar myself) because crafting 2 different sets for a 3% more multiplier and more power/ less precision isn’t worth it. And yes, they work with minis, pets, phantasms.

Scholar is better than Ranger. It’s on par with the Ranger rune even without the 10% bonus because of the Str. Strength does more for power builds. You can easily test this at HoTM. Find the mesmer bot and jump off that ledge to get your HP below 90% and start shooting at the golem then compare it when the ranger rune.

The only way to get a higher pttack is to use Strength Rune and Sigil and you need 6 to 7 stacks to get into Scholar territory which is not easy to do because the rapid fire channel is shorter now. And if you do that, it means you can’t run Air/Fire on your LB which is not optimal for burst.

If you have problems keeping your HP above 90% in WvW because of retal, run SoTW with Omnomberry pie.

Your personal opinion doesn’t matter for this one. :p

Also be careful having minis out if you rely on stealth, which LBs do, since the mini will run around after you. There is a slight delay on the mini and the LB stealth isn’t very long, but if you make a big direction switch for the confusion, the mini can ruin that.
