Ranger pet
I’m just going to say that this is one of the most irrelevant complaints I have ever seen. They keep the “name limit” down to the ones you currently have equipped to saves memory space, and because it is an incredibly minor and unimportant issue.

But it’s not unimportant, it’s kind of a quality issue. If they can’t get such a bog-standard easy peasy trivial feature like this right (something every other game on the planet manages) then what does that say about the quality of the game and how much they really care about rangers and their pets (you know, that non-optional, profession defining game mechanic).
An inability to take 2 seconds, out of combat, to name your pet ‘bob’ (or whatever) says absolutely nothing about the quality of the game…but speaks volumes about the player themselves.
You’re right it doesn’t make sense, it’s extremely immersion breaking.
Anyone who opposes this is kind of odd. Why would you ‘not’ want this fixed?
No they should be fixing other things!
They can do both.
I would have to agree. I love this class and it bugs the crap out of me too. I like naming my pets according to their personality. Luckily I have enough gray matter between my ears to remember each ones name. BUT, if the code monkey’s ever see it in their hearts, they would add the line of code that would let the pets keep their names….too easy to do….
Agree. I want permament names for my pets.
If it’s a memory issue they could save the pet names in a local file, and verify that it hasn’t been tampered with when you load it on startup. I’d also like it if you could save “pet sets” for easy swapping out of combat.
