I’ve noticed that I only ever really use bears while I play my ranger..It just seems like every other pet just doesn’t do well at all..Anyone have some info that could help?

I think the pet damage was nerfed not too long ago. (approx 8-13k dmg down to 5-6k dmg in a second)
It certainly doesn’t do as much damage as before.

I do not use bears in anything other than PvE. Then again, I haven’t used bears in a very long time. like in dungeons, they die instantly.

Only good for attacking 7-10 spiders or other stuff and putting down traps and killing them off with an axe.

In PvP, I wouldn’t dare use a bear, they’re just annoying but do nothing to the enemy. Use a pet that actually does damage.

I found the stealth couger or jag or cat. one of em does pretty good to sneak attack a group of people..

Try a drakehound does well for me.

Pets like the Lynx and Jaguar does great DPS…they’re more squishy but they hit for a lot more. For a power build you might be interested in the Jungle Stalker/ Red Moa. Ranged pets like spiders and devourers can be useful in dungeons as well, since they tend to survive longer. For PVP go hounds, their knockdown is awesome. You can also go birds for their burst DPS, plus they have less problems hitting moving targets.

Bears can tank for a short while in dungeons, provided you have at least some points in beastmastery. (I run with 10) For PVP, you can use the brown bear to cleanse CC for you (etc immobilise).

PvP or PvE?

canines are utterly solid in PvP if played well.
