Ranger pets - F2 broken again?
Piken Square
Am I the only one? Right now to use F2 I have to click the button 4-5 times and still wait few seconds
I guess having it work 50% of the time = fix for anet. I mean, it is better than the 10% of the time it worked before. What would really be nice will be when the pet actually keeps attacking the target you assign it to rather than switching, or randomly quitting the fight on its own.

It seems to me that they are trying to make it easy on us by having the pet run into the range of the enemy before using their F2. This should be changed so that the F2 just casts where ever the pet is regardless of target. I think that would fix most of the problems.
Am I good?… I’m good.
it would too, wolfs fear is a aoe fear that i’d like to use next door to me , if i get flanked while i can keep chasing or attacking my main target with a longbow for the last shot to down someone but the f2 fails because atm he runs to my tagged target then does the fear away from where i needed it.
but the simple salution is just recall the pet straight after a swap then F2 aoe skills won’t chase when activated, only f2 direct attack skills will activate making th epet chase.
I usually either F1 the pet on a nearby target, then F2 before reselecting my original target, or have it on passive when I F2, and I had no problem.
If pet is set on a target, I feel it’s natural that it will try to cast offensive F2 on the target it’s set on…
Now, what’s weird, is that stalker will sometimes try to go on the other side of the target before it lauches (so that it faces me), causing a delay, but it’s not happening that often, and most of the time that’s because it was beside me when I pressed F2. When I’m in front of it, no problems…
It’s not that the pet is being unresponsive or the skill isn’t actually going off, it’s that the pet wants to get in range before it uses the ability. Which is great and all… but i think most rangers would rather the pet just use the kittening ability when you press the button with the exception of the single target abilities such as the Rending Barbs on devourers and the bird F2s.

If you use F2 without selecting a target, the pet will activate its abilities right where he is….but if you select an enemy then it will try to get in range before using its F2.

This…. The worst part is even pets like the Brown Bear run up to the target even though their roar has absolutely nothing to do with the target…

F2 is more responsive. But the bug where you hit F2 and nothing happens is still around. A few of us reported this prior to the F2 responsiveness patch. I’m still not sure what causes it.
Basically F2 is off cooldown, you hit F2, and the pet just continues what it was doing and never gets around to using the skill. Very different from the responsiveness problem, where you hit F2 and the pet took its own sweet time getting around to firing the skill.
I last noticed it a couple days ago at the Shaman boss at Maw. My jaguar was in the middle of meleeing the boss. I noticed F2 was ready so I hit it to give nearby people might. Nothing, despite my pet already being in melee range. Resist the urge to spam F2 when it doesn’t fire, and I’m sure you’ll notice it too.
