Ranger's Pet Not Activating in PvP
Mines broken too. Sucks cause i have seen some rangers in the arenas with them.
In spvp i have pets, but i can’t switch them for other, im stuck with 2. Wvw i can’t have them at all
I had the same issue, go find some water and open the pet menu.

Are you referring to a beta character or rangers in general? On my druid I’m having the same issues, any location in PvE my pet won’t appear, and anything I do won’t make it reappear (dying, changing maps, entering combat, ect.), but going into Heart of the Mists it works perfectly fine.
Did the water thing and jumped into the pvp lobby with no luck. Trying to find some water there but i dont think there is any.
Yeah it’s pretty kitten obnoxious, I’ve also had this for about three days now, reported it on the first day and I still haven’t seen any acknowledgement of the bug from anet or anything…I know nothing about game developing but you’d think they could fix this or at least acknowledge it by now, because this bug pretty much prevents all rangers who come across it from playing PvP at all…
My issue started this afternoon with one of those patches. Kinda makes me sad if this might have to go longer than one evening.
So, after making multiple bug reports after the latest patch as well as asking mapchat if anyone else has ran into this problem with their Ranger, I’ve pretty much given up trying to get my ranger’s pet to actually “appear”.
Literally, my pet doesn’t exist. The “activate pet” button does absolutely nothing. I’ve tried every which way to try and fix the issue after the latest patch and everytime I’ve mentioned it in mapchat all I get are snide remarks say “my pet must have ran away” and so on.
I would like to have this situation solved since I enjoy playing my ranger in the PvP the most. If anyone has ran into this issue before, please let me know if and how it was resolved. I’m really bummed that I can’t play the class I want to in PvP.

i’m having the same issue on my ranger when i play pvp, i specially made this one a bezerker ranger and now the pet doesn’t activate and the pet managment just doesn’t appear.
its been like this already since i went into stronghold pvp last friday, its messing up my daylies can you please fix it thank you,

having the same problem. pets appear in open world but when going to the pvp lobby and pvp games, pets are disabled. clicking activate does nothing and pressing “K” does not bring up the pet panel. This makes ranger unplayable in pvp, your downed skill doesn’t work without pet as well as the significant utility and dps loss….please fix
Same problem, in pvp lobby and 5v5 arenas the “Activate Pet” button does nothing. (Its a normal character, not a beta one).
Please Help.
Your only hope is to try and break out of a map and get to water.

Bump, just happened to me. My pet seemed to be fine in PvE, but when I entered the pvp area my pet was gone, I can’t bring him out and pressing K does not bring up the pet menu!

Can’t change pet, can’t choose any other.
Losing in pvp like mad without the ability to change pets.
Let us lose the pet or fix it for real.

well, actually there’s various legal protections for small claims to protect people against malfeasance involving small fees. however, this really doesnt rate. just chill, play another character, file a support ticket.
The current fix to this issue for PvP is as follows
Spectate any game that has a Ranger playing (MAD dailies tends to have a few) who does have his pet activated.
Whilst spectating that player, press K to open pet menu, choose your pets, then stop spectating the game and leave back to the PvP lobby.
Voilà, you have your pets back.

We shouldn’t have to use a work around to fix our pets every single time we enter HOTM this has been an issue for almost 2 weeks now.
The spectate work around is a nuisance and the water one doesn’t usually work.
This needs fixing ASAP please. At the moment it feels pointless to log in as ranger for PVP.
My suspicion is that they may be trialing ways to stop us giving our pets commands while downed and they have inadvertently broken them in the process.
Dreaming of the day we get physical West Coast servers.
My pet after over 10 days is still not able:
To be chosen
To be changed
To switch to another pet in combat
To see any other pet in any menu
Anet, stop this, it’s not one person, it’s many.

You yell at people when the problem isn’t fixed by your “fix”?
Seriously?
It didn’t work for me.
It doesn’t work for many.
Something is wrong with pets innately, they aren’t attacking many things, now they ultimately disappear completely and the only pet I can go into pvp and “get” is a spider, not something that is even from pve which is where I am coming from most of the time when I enter pvp.
I am sorry you don’t understand, but I have a about twenty min of video that says anet needs to fix this issue, not pretend that tricking the program which might work for some, will and does work for all.

My video below shows it and if you want me to do it from wvw, to pve to pvp and spectate inbetween I will, but it’s all the same, I can’t have any other pet in pvp except a spider and I can’t bring up the menu even with your “fix”.

Many of us are tired of being scolded as adults who bought a program that isn’t working as it states it does.

Telling the truth, even worse, showing the truth, is reason for infractions?
This bug is stopping many from one third of the program.
Pets still don’t work fully in any mode.
Take pets out of pvp and give us more health and power until you fix this.
