Ranger so impar
Major problem with the pets in this game (this affects necromancer minions as well) is that they’re incapable of attacking and moving at the same time. This makes it nearly impossible for them to hit a moving target like players can. ANet said that they can fix this, but won’t because currently animals/minions do not have an animation for moving while attacking, and they don’t want to break the aesthetics of the game.

Adding +20% base run speed like they did in GW1 would be a part of the fix, then increase pet AA ranges to 300 and they should be able to hit a lot of the time vs a moving player. No need to even change the animations.
Have you seen the Moa morph Moa video? Pretty bad when an elite skill meant to seriously hamper someone and make them far less effective actually improves our pet. It basically makes the pet far better because the AA skill has a 250 range.
Edit: fixed link.

Your link is broken, but honestly I don’t need to see it to believe it. I’ve been Moa’d before and found that its auto attack does more damage than a lot of classes baseline auto attacks, and the extra range pretty much makes it impossible to get away from.
First thing I do when I get moa’d isn’t to run away, but to run up and punch the mesmer in the face for more damage than I could have before.

Even so, here it is.
I can’t make the class work , all the skills have a lot cooldown and so little utility compared to other classes , the pet seems useless and weak once u use the F2 , i thought that ranger it was going to be for me since i like a lot pet classes. but ranger was a deception for me .
If you are talking about the traditional longbow ranger then perhaps the deception was that you didnt know when and how to properly position/move, and when to LB #3 #4. Often vs competent players sometimes you need to turn 180 and run for some seconds to create that distance, as that will be your “utility defense” in that scenaro – otherwise you’ll run out of actual utility skills. It’s better to lose some downtime on auto atacks vs the potential kill damage the enemy can do to you when they set up their burst.
A lot of pets have unreliable F2s that doesnt connect as easily, birds or bird / wolf is a good combo paired with Beastly Warden trait for defense or to set up burst with LB #2. The LB can be clunky to use and sometimes your own abilities can be interrupted due to you not properly facing the enemy.
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore

Which game mode are we talking about here?
If we are talking about PvP or WvW it is probably a l2p issue…if we are talking about PvE it is still a l2p issue. :P
Rangers are able to pull off some awesome stuff in solo, small scale and even large scale “PvP” fights. Even in an PvE environment you are able to deal some awesome damage with some damage/crit buffs for your group. We need more information if you are looking for any kind of help or explaination.
