Ranger spvp build?
I´ve been looking since the patch but I cant find a single good build for this crap class.
Try my wvw build and make some modifications based on your play style=good to go. You will be as tough as bunker guardian and D/D ele. I tried that build in spvp 1st before I went shopping gears and went to wvw, no one can kill me 1v1 in spvp.
anyone have a good ranger spvp build for Shortbow Sword/warhorn?
please include runes and sigils i need to use aswell as the amulet ^^

Alright ill test it out i modified it just a little bit on the offensive side and aswell still have about 2.5k armor xD
2500 armor is kinda squishy. You know the best modification in spvp is to use shaman gears instead of cleric since shaman’s pvp version is Toughness + Healing+condition instead of Vit+healing+con in pve/wvw version. You sacrifice a little bit healing power but become tougher (~3100 armor, 3100 vs 2500 that’s 20%+ difference, plus your healing power, that makes huge difference), also you will get decent condition damage. Ranger himself’s direct damage is a joke especially in this build (you have very low crit chance+damage), so if you want to go more offensive, go for shaman in sPVP.

I am returning to the class, which I initially left due to frustrations regarding pet-pathing. But since that has been improved, I do find the class much more viable. I am currently testing 4 builds … none of them are perfect, and I keep hearing “shouts are bad”, and yet I have included one. So .. if you can use some non-perfect-builds, that are very much “beta”, here they are :
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-FF3V;1wEku-v2ZEF-0;9k29;2TT9;217A28A5;3KNH4;2dZH9fgm92Vj
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-F7kV;1sEFu-v2gDV-0;9V1D;1JJT;037-17-28A;4KJF4;2dZH9fgm92FJ
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-Fo-g;1sEFu-f2NDV-0;9k8a;1T-9-T379;12;34626-k6;2LNW4LNW46BM
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-FF3V;1wEFu-f2NDF-0;9V29;3T9T;427A2;02488F18;2nBnBnBnB9ct
They more or less speak for themselves .. and they are, as I said beta .. nothing is set in stone. Feedback and advice is always welcomed, since I am horribly clueless when compared to the ones who stuck the bad times out.
PS: Yeah .. I know: no stun-brealer in the trapper-build, and I will most likely just end up being boring and add LR/SoR instead of SotH. I should add, that the runes in the 3. build is a bit off due to playing around with amulets … and there should very likely be a better choice of runes. The first 2 speccs are inspired by the ones given in the old “post your build-thread” … Shadowfront (if I remember correctly?) had some nice builds, that I took up again.

I run this build in SPvP, SB-Sword/Horn build. Use raven as opener and drakehound when you enter melee combat to finish your target.

hmm ill test it out but dangg the attack on that build is super low xD is it just based off conditions ?
I recommend going to the Mist, find a heavy golem and follow this combo. Start at 1200 Range attack with your SB/Raven, run at your target soon as you get into melee range use the following skills. Weapon Swap+QZ+SS+Hunter’s Call+Call of the wild followed with 2 sets of your auto attack then pet swap you will have 6 seconds for QZ and at the 4 second mark when your target realizes you wasting them and the drakehound always opens with his knockdown and he will be under QZ when he does.
Then run the combo with RoA up.
Then its just matter learning some tactics to use against different builds.. Tip vs Mesmers wait for them to blow there load (condition stack you) use your Elite wipe his conditions and weapon swap and melt the mesmer.
*Note turn off the auto attack on your sword, that will get your killed.

alright ima try this out since its alot more bleeding involved my build is pretty much the same except i use soldiers amulet with beserker jewl in it so i have a butt load more attack but my condition damage is flimsy hitting 54s a tick :P lol
I’ve used the following build with great success since beta:
The build is basically a tweaked version of your typical Trap ranger. The Carrion Amulet gives you high HP and lets your Sword hit reasonably hard without sacrificing condition damage. Since the build doesn’t run a Torch or Dagger, it has slightly less access to Poison and Burning, but you get more team support and personal mobility in exchange. Also, Hunter’s Call + Rampage as One = Lots of Might for your pet.
The specifics of the build are really a matter of personal preference. I prefer a Black Moa as my second pet over the Krytan Drakehound because of the Daze and healing it offers, but you can use whatever else you like. Runes and Sigils can also be changed around, but I find that stacking some sort of bleeding duration makes a considerable difference in damage output, so I personally wouldn’t stack less than +30%. I like having an extra Corruption Sigil on my Shortbow because it’s the build’s primary weapon, and I don’t want to be switching away from it whenever I’m trying to get a kill, but you could run Agony or something if you prefer. Also, Bark Skin is a good alternative to Empathic Bond, since the build has good HP and doesn’t need to fear conditions as much as a Ranger running the Rabid or Shaman’s Amulets does. Try stuff out and see what you like.
Final note: try to reserve your pet swaps for when an ally/enemy goes down. There are exceptions to that rule, of course, but fast stomping/reviving is one of the most important things a Ranger can bring to a team, and you don’t want to lose a kill or let an ally die because you swapped your pet when it wasn’t necessary. You can and will win team fights by using your swaps carefully.
Hope this helped!
I like full power precision crit damage on everything. It’s the only way to get the burst I was looking for. I like to min max any build I do.
