Ranger sword ability "Pounce" question
You are not doing something wrong. It can happen when executing leap or leap-like moves on large, structure-classed enemies.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
I’ve had this too. I wouldn’t say its a bug or that your doing anything wrong (though i haven’t looked into it a lot). Its just strange behavior that comes with having a leap attached to an auto-attack.
Might have to stick with greatsword then, you cant stack with people and get all their buffs jumping around like this.
There’s only like 4 enemies out of millions so it’s not that big of a deal. And fortunately the extra damage from a sword over GS isn’t critical for open world bosses.
If you don’t feel like swapping weapons, you can always use axe 4 (quickdrawed), part of the autoattack and then 3, 5 cut short, part of autoattack and the 2nd axe 4 (or whatever the exact order is), and then go back to LB, i.e. just use the sword and avoid the leap. The damage drop is again pretty irrelevant and it’s fun to push buttons. Especially if you can slip sword 2 in there like on the wurm to avoid an AoE. Using sword skills to evade boss attacks looks cool, especially subject alpha.
I have found success fixing this by enabling melee aim assist. it stops you from moving though actor boxes. so when you hit an actor (Enemy) it halts your movement.
Strangely this has fixed most issues with leap abilities, though GS on warrior still spins though the enemy which can be anoying.
This may be your problem
check your options menu in [combat/movement] and check melee attack assist. This will prevent you from running or jumping through your opponent.
That doesn’t stop you from leaping through many world bosses though because they have a target box but no actual “enemy”. Think of Tequatl or Claw where it’s just a random spot on the ground you’re supposed to attack.
Problem solved. Pounced will be removed in 4 days.
Makes me sad. I guess im one of the few who figured out how to work with pounce (or likes working with it) I’ll miss pounce, but maybe they have replaced it with something better.

Yeah, it will be missed (RIP gigantic bristleback). Would be funny if they called back to it if they ever make a “bunnythumper” elite specialization. Have pounce be a utility that makes the ranger or pet jump on a target enemy, knocking them down and immobilizing them, lol.
