Ranger traits. PvP class, still garbage PvE.
As they said, traits are still subject to change. Some of the mergers, deletions, additions, and placements were questionable – but from what was shown – there is more synergy between traits and trait lines than before.
I’m not completely satisfied with the Ranger portion and how it was handled, but I’m not completely dissatisfied either.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
First of all, none of these changes made us any worse in dungeons, somewhat depending on what the new spirits will be like. We’re still perfectly viable for braindead dungeon content.
Secondly, if these changes will bring us up on the pvp meta ladder, that would be much more appreciated than buffs to our dungeon meta build. I prefer being “mediocre”, but still perfectly viable in pve than being meta for speedclearing dungeons while still suffering in pvp.
Thirdly, you still don’t know what kind of utility the druid will bring. Hell, even these changes aren’t necessarily final.

That’s pretty much how every PvE Ranger is going to feel. Because while we got some nice changes for PvP I believe, they managed to accomplish 0 interesting changes for PvE. We got slightly buffed, we’re going to be pretty much the same afterwards, only thief and guardian have now shot ahead a bit.

We all know Druid is going to be some useless support thingy.

Yeah, kinda like how guardian turned out to be some useless support thingy.

Meta guardian is dps guardian, if you’re running support guardian in pve you are pondscum.
You virtually go zerker dps and pop wall/aegis on need. No extra support.
Ele and warrior are the support classes in this game with banners, blast fields and might/fury stack, virtually all other boons are worthless in PvE the point is to kill crap as fast as possible.

I was obviously talking about the potential set of supportive utility skills that may or may not be as usefull as a certain other class that brings support in dungeons. What are they called again..? Guardians you say? Those are a part of the meta you say? Oooooh..
Seriously, what are you even asking for? Our damage is good, we already got party wide damage boost through FrostSpotter. If anything, support skills that actually can be used in dungeons are exactly what the ranger needs. I doubt they’re adding druids just to give us another way of sharing regen, swiftness and general healing like we already got plenty of.

Except guardian is predicated on the use of a staff. With the exception of ele you know how staff builds function in PvE. They don’t.
1 its all ok but no need for Negative QQ , spotter has moved to skirmishing and you can take 3 trait lines so Frost spotter isn’t going anywhere and spirits are 70% chance base line opening onther trait for Support Utiltiy like Natures voice for regenswiftness on Sic um ? what , what is that we just got a Pet damage boost to the Dungeon Ranger Meta build>?
Check out my post for a rundown of how PvE ranger actually got a GIANT buff.

You guys need to be fed with a spoon, or what?
Wall and aegies are both defensive and supportive utility. You aren’t forced to use a staff as a druid, you aren’t forced to wear armor with defensive stats.
Just like a guardian, you will be able to go full dps and bring whatever utility you have. That new utility MIGHT be usefull ON TOP of FrostSpirit.

Such a kitten troll, I guess a thief now qualifies as a support class as well if we’re going to stretch definitions of support classes thin.
Except guardian is predicated on the use of a staff.
I didn’t say that.
With the exception of ele you know how staff builds function in PvE. They don’t.
Druid isn’t out yet. You don’t know how it’s staff functions in PvE.

Support UTILITY. Not class. UTILITY. I never even said support class, and you’re calling me out for being a troll.
Are you having problems reading, or what? Is it so god kitten hard for you to understand that we’re talking about the possible supportive utility the druid may get while still speccing for damage? Just like the current meta guardian is doing.
(edited by Lazze.9870)
Yeah, you’re going to talk reading when you bring up dungeon tours instead of actual PvE content like high level fractals.
The biggest contributor to a class’s performance is the weapon itself. 4 new utility skills will not offset the garbage dps of a ranged weapon.
@OP
Stop posting this emo threads, here and the mesmer forums.
You sound like a thief.
/emo /slitwrist
New metas , New ways to deal damage without specing for supporting stats , New ways to be jolly about a revamped Ranged that Gained nothing but Amazing Support traits without loosing damage but infact gaining damage in the form of Pet traits got a Massive Buff!.
if this Staff can be used with beserker stats+ supportive utilties and those new traits buff the pet and then IF the druid Staff + sword/axe lets the pet grant Vun, extra damage ect ect
damage>buff pet> slap on some Natures voice Regen+swiftness and or the new skirmishing trait gain might while under 50% hp in 3second intervals > Buffs pet with Might 3 for you 6 for the pet it will get the pet to 25 might in 12secs.
so if your worried about Damage or Support it is not a issue , because Roles or Definitions do not Exsist on a Ranger now , its Fully customisable.
so bring it on If your scared of loosing your Guardain role / definition it makes no difference if they take their place or not , it gives the Ranger a Chance to part-take in somthing and be Effective at Damage while support (O;o just like a Staff Guardian)
now stop QQ’ing its a Strange new World, take everything you think is meta and or Viable and throw it out the window.

Yeah, I am, because you don’t seem to understand anything. And you’re talking about high level fractal as if it were hard content. Is that a joke?
First of all, you’re wrong. The biggest contributor from a class won’t always be its weapon. We already mentioned the obvious wall and aegies. And I’m not sure how you haven’t caught up on this yet, but a druid won’t be stuck with a staff. Our DPS options are the same, our utility will be expanded on.
And yet you’re whining. Wow. Just wow. Maybe you’re the troll.

I don’t know, the PvE Dungeon meta still seems intact and a lot of the buffs look good. I don’t exactly like every change, I don’t like how we are still stuck wit some useless minors and I really don’t like the placement of some of the moved traits though.
Also changing the name of Survival of the fittest is the worst change they have ever done.

And haven’t you seen all that regen? The swiftness and regens are SO, SO USEFUL IN DUNGEON CONTENT.
New dungeons coming to HoT announced? If you’re referring to that tired old dungeon content of easymode stack and splatter zerk meta from years ago…well good, let that content be phased out.
Meh.. Most of my 95% zerker build on my Ranger is still intact. Infact, because I use Scholar runes it should be better than before because I’ll be in M/S/WS with Bark Skin helping me stay above 90% HP.
Just want to point out the trait lines no longer effect stats they are just traits that adjust what is listed in the trait.
Base stats and the stats on gear are going to be adjusted to deal with the loss of trait line stat.
Greatsword might be pushed over Sword for DPS, it got a huge buff with Remorseless and Quick Draw coupled with TH Training.
But it’s not definitive so we’ll have to wait for release.
Spirits and pets are still here and that’s still quite a concern.
1h sword is still king. The 10% from Striders Defense ensured that.
