I dont want this to be understood as a QQ statement but here goes

I created kudzu like 2.5 years ago for the sheer fun of PvE then when i started pvping it
was fun playing traps
And then spirit build was cool like a year ago so i started working on the dreamer so u know i can have a legendary in PvP shooting unicorns and chirping birds PvE ,

All that farming was always on my warrior of course since we r doomed in dungeons and i know few ranger play them well in dungeons and i used to be one of them until the insta-kick started to annoy me – i dont have much friends playing gw2-

Then like i donno 4 or 5 months ago both traps and spirit became kinda useless and the fact that we r not needed in dungeon made me create a necro to start prepairing for reaper and anticipating druid with low low low expectations and voila we r healers now
Also to my shock the good rangers now in PvP are S/T + A/D

We r rangers who dont use bows and i used to be a good bunker/decap spirit ranger and i dont want to brag but we used to win many games for a while that sometimes we got to face TCG when they had sizer tage rom danshe helseth – we used to lose 500 /120 against those lads – , now i feel lost when i pvp with my ranger and i hate to play a ranger with melee or semi ranged weapons

i know most of like the druid but i didnt sign up for the support rule in PvE as a ranger

Also tbh i dont care for the time it took me to create those 2 legendary weapons i had my fun using em

most of u will disagree and some will agree but i guess we need some love as rangers

Good rangers would use your Kudzu. No one runs S/T A/D in high level play. If you are playing TCG and the like then lb should be you weapon of choice.

Stick to necro dude. This class will never be viable as it was clearly demonstrated this week with WHaO.

Zerker builds can put the LB to use. While it is a minor loss of dps in pve, it is standard in wvw/spvp

i know that lb is the standard in PvP now but believe me its 1 out of 30 or 40 WTS players who use lb ranger IF there is a ranger at all within that group of players , also i dont know if im right or wrong on this but , as a lb ranger u cant hold a base or even decap one since u need another to do the melee fight for u while u take higher ground or ur 1500 distance and start doing ur nasty work on defenders , i know u would tell me to switch to gs and go assault em but really? i mean u wont be able to survive 1 decent warrior or thief or even an ele , we had our chances going 1vs1 against any1 and i mean any1 when we had decent traps or decent spirits

After the patch LB rangers became much much more durable than before. If you run WS, BM, NM you should be able to 1v1 most classes for a good while on point. In terms of PvP I think we have definitely made improvements but i’m not sure about WvW and PvE.

Yeah it’s pretty funny. All the good, but unwise, Rangers use LB in competitive PvP. But, it’s a team killer (as in your own). All the low MMR Rangers (like myself—I am told) use S/D A/T. It was almost good before the last balance patch, but it is worse off now. Go figure.

LB is not viable in PvP. In a 2v2 or any other amalgamation, the other team always has the advantage on point. If they down your ally, you are too far away to help in a meaningful way and you only have skill 4 and some weak pet skills to help you (which they wont, because the other classes have invulnerability, and and endless supply of Stability, Invisibility and other tools to aid in squashing your not-so-lucky friend). Not to mention, there are two of them and you only have one knockback. This is the main reason that LB is not worth it in PvP, and never will be.

I could get into things like, how the abundance of Reflect and Retaliation on a low damage, but rapid fire, weapon also render your attacks useless. Whereas they won’t do anything against melee or the Mesmer’s superior GS attack.

Ranger’s base attack damage and scaling is too low. The WHaO update to over-usefullness, and subsequent nerf to mostly-uselessness show Rangers exactly where they should stand in the crowd. That is, outside the crowd. Think Red Shirt when you think Ranger in PvP.

Always a good candidate for the first target to attack.

^, my point exactly we r very good dealing " heavy " damage when being outside the point , which is isnt very helpful to ur team mates who are rallying inside

and if u r chased u wont be able to help out coz u r not any of the other 7 classes that can buff/aid team mates using ur utilities or greatsword – iam talking about power ranger build -

The standard power longbow build might actually thrive in the new Stronghold mode. I haven’t played a whole lot of it, but I sure felt a whole lot more useful there, especially when dedicating to pushing the offense lane. Like has been said, for Conquest it’s bad because it’s hard for it to contest on the point, but fortunately Stronghold lacks this.

Hopefully with Stronghold pvp mode, sniper ranger may see more light than before.

As for current conqeust I use S/T and A/D with full on survival

anywayz yeh i agree ive palyed power ranger on the stronghold and its amazing there since u can manipulate the supply arrea with barrage and keep knocking them away from it and harass off/def lanes

Trapper condi are ste best in stronghold.
Zerker LB can’t output so much pressure as trapper, and trapper can kill solo lord and all adds faster than any zerker.

I’d throw out QZ and take Signet of Stone instead. QZ doesn’t really do that much on a condi ranger build without shortbow, so I think the extra toughness and direct damage immunity of SoS would be more valuable for you.

I’d throw out QZ and take Signet of Stone instead. QZ doesn’t really do that much on a condi ranger build without shortbow, so I think the extra toughness and direct damage immunity of SoS would be more valuable for you.
