Trait Build:
Skirmish(10) – Pet Prowess
Wilderness Survival(30) – Shared Anguish, Off-Hand Training, Bark Skin
BeastMastery(30) – Master’s Bond, Compassion Training, Natural Healing

I mainly use a Wolf for its superior power and decent Toughness/Vitality (and I like making monsters run away with Fear). With Beastmastery maxed most of it’s stats are far better than i could hope to make my own, Easily hitting 3000+ critical dmg without buffs using it’s skills and 1000-2000 with regular attacks. It also survives as well any bear can with it’s improved stats and regeneration making it tough against the large mobs and boss alike. I’m sure similar results would come from other pets too.
I use a shortbow/Axe-Warhorn(or Torch) to add Bleeds, Poison, and Burning along with Moderate damage

I’ve tried a Marksman/Skirmish build and couldnt reach the amount of damage and survivability this setup brings. If you disagree please share a build you think could out perform mine. I’m always experimenting with my traits and this is the best i’ve found FOR ME.

Have you tried dropping Wilderness Survival to 20 and picking up 10 more points in Skirmishing for Carnivorous Appetite? It works incredibly well on faster attacking pets, my hawk can pretty much tank anything with a similar setup.

Right now I’m using a slightly different build for dungeons and W3 and getting much better results, but ONLY because of Piercing Arrows (it’s especially awesome in W3 zerg fests).
