Rangers in Raids (NOT Druids)
I am afraid that even with zerker gear, you want to go with druid so that you can heal and buff your allies’ damage. Also, sword is your best dps weapon, not greatsword.
You might just swap in a few healing gear if your group find it hard to survive.
Power ranger is “somewhat” viable for VG, doing reasonable damage while running the green circles. I would however recommend bringing sword/axe instead of greatsword just so you can squeeze out that little extra damage when you’re at melee (Between circles / split phases). The main problem here is that groups can and will replace you with another class that brings better damage/utility if things start to get rough.
That said, even though you mention that you don’t enjoy playing Druid I’d strongly recommend that you give it a try. Full berserker gear is fine for a Druid and the gameplay is very similar to the longbow – S/A ranger build, just pop into CA form to buff everyone with Grace of the land. A Druid in the right hands is incredibly good for overall group damage and is desirable for all three of the current raid bosses.
Yes you’ll have higher individual responsibility on Druid, but in turn you’ll be a much more valued member of a group.
Core Ranger is inferior to druid even when it comes to damage.
I often play the role of DPS booster and not the healer. But sacrificing the option of AoE +15% for … I don’t even know which traitline is not favorable.
You don’t have to heal just because you picked Druid Traitline. The DPS boost of Druid is roughly 38,5% for your party statistically. All in unique modifiers and effects unlike might or fury.
There’s no reason why not to pick druid. For offensive or defensive support.

Can you post a link to/similar to your dps build?

This is pretty much it.
Some adjustments can be made like swapping Enlargement for Clarion Bond or Tiger for Lynx. Those depend on your taste and composition.
The trick is that with Healing Spring alone you get basically access to CAF on cooldown without using staff at all.
So you go by your standard rotation from LB #2#5> Swap > PoS > CAF #4 > Leave CAF > PoS > …
As long as Quick Draw is bugged you’ll have to endure and try to use it immediately after you used the proc for damaging ability already.

If you’re hell bent on Raiding as a base ranger only.. I think you would be better going down the Condition route >.< … Axe+Torch or Sword+Torch / Short Bow
Vale Guardian → Red
Goresy → Immol Spirit
Sab- > Dunno never seen any base rangers at this point.
For me personally, I wouldn’t take a base Ranger unless their gear is optimized or I know they understand the mechanics of the raid boss we are facing. That’s pretty much the case with any base class though >.< …
As long as you do your research, have Exotics with 1-2 ascendeds on you, Have your runes & sigils set up correctly, have the right food and utilities, and your pets set up correctly you should be fine.

Fort Aspenwood
Having Viper’s and having torch equipped at both offhands with Quick Draw gives you bonfire each 9 seconds which is nice. With a good team I think you should be able to defeat vale guardian. With NM and traited spirits (frost + sun), SK spotter and bleed traits, WS Ambidexterity and other condi traits, and a proper runeset you’ll do ok.
But, other profession(s) will do a better job as a condi, and druid offers more to the table.
Edit: Didn’t read last message, kinda says the same.

Power based no druid for raid, maybe something along these lines?:
Possible changes:
Instinctive Reaction for bountiful hunter
Most Dangerous Game for Quickdraw
Moment of Clarity for Steady Focus
Rune of Strength for Rune of the Ranger, or maybe privateer or ogre rune.
You said Greatsword, but Sword/WH would probably be better if you master sword. Then you should probably change up some traits again because of WH and go for strength rune.
ppl shoot (pew pew) if I missed something.
Still goes what I said in last post, druid is better, and maybe ranger-condi is too.
