Almost every day when I go to do my daily dungeon runs with my ranger, I get kicked twice sometimes three times from a group before I find one that will take me. What the hell is going on, how are people this ignorant. I strongly believe ranger was viable before the buffs, but now… now the ranger is the single most strongest fast running dungeon class. They now rank 4# in dps higher than warrior and guard, they also have spotter and frost spirit, but yet some groups still take a third warrior. WHAT IS GOING ON? A warrior with no banners is better than a ranger, who has higher dps and two huge buffs for his team? People need to realise that when played correctly, Ranger is a ????ing monster. A lot of people seem hate on Rangers because of the average Longbow using Juvenile Brown Bear pug that we all know and hate. The reason I posted this is that I want the community to acknowladge the ranger as a must have dungeon class. I mean look at this paradox, people are hating the arguably most powerful dungeon class in the game to that point where they kick a ranger as soon as they see one enter the group, I cant even remember when was the last time I saw someone ask for a ranger in lfg , probably never. This has to change. First of all the elitist need to realise that the ranger is the elite in the new meta, and second the pugs need to start building ranger correctly. And my question to the community is how to change peapoles outlook on the ranger that has been ridiculed and hated for so long? I apologise for my bad english and grammar.

Do you have bizarrely low achievement points? Are you joining groups that are specifically asking for something you’re not? Are you using some weird weapon combo like axe/torch with a pet pig?

I wasn’t getting kicked at all even before the LB update, let alone 2 or 3 times a day.

I agree, you must be doing something wrong, only times i have seen a ranger kick from a pie group is pre patch and they where ask if they use sword and they say no

u dont seem to camp at 1.2k range and use LB only

Im using sword warhorn, longbow, salamander drake and jaguar, I have full ascended zerk gear, 3k ap, traits 6/5/0/3/0, pet buffs, spotter, spirit buff, and dmg buffs. I use healing spring, signet of stone, zephyr, frost spirit and RaO. Am I doing something wrong with my build. But they rarely ask me for my gear and build. Btw three mintues ago i was in TA and during that boss with bow that moves in up path I got acussed of making it move with my pet, apparently it doesnt move when there are no rangers in a gruop lol, when I argued, the guy answered me ‘’to be expected from a ranger’‘. And on the fw path I got kicked and when i asked why, the guy answered me ’’low dmg’’, when I tried to argue he blocked me and then pm that 99% of rangers dont know how to play, and that he doesnt trust me to know how with 3k ap.

This kind of stuff really boils my blood. I don’t think you will be able to get away from situations like this until you hit about 5k+ AP’s. I know that AP’s points aren’t the only tell in knowing whether a player is skilled or not. But it does say that they have some experience. Obviously the more AP points a person has, they would have to have more experience.

I think if Anet removed the ability for players to see other players AP points, it could actually make things worse for Rangers and Necros. People would just assume that a player has low AP points and not even give them a chance.

My advice would be to start your own LFG. Make the description accurate, and you’ll get good players in your group. If you can try to grind out another 2k AP points to break 5K, you would probably have less issues joining other party’s.

Yeah, this kind of stuff boils my blood as well. Dungeons are, mostly, beginner content. They are designed to get people used to playing on a team, so you will run into quite a few personalities who can’t adjust to teammates abilities or builds and end up kicking and complaining when things don’t work out the way they expect. Take a look at the experience level of your teammates to have an idea what you are in for

Try to join the Jade Quarry server if you can. This server has many old GW1 vets who just enjoy playing and welcome the challenge of playing with all sorts of allies. Rangers are very powerful now (and before) and you can pretty much two man most of the dungeons with a skilled ally. Also, check out Edge of the Mists, WvW, and PvP. Most of the truely skilled players spend their time in these forums and are generally more pleasurable.

I have too bad experiences with rangers, even after patch, too many of them are playing quite bad, was doing fotm 50 last week with some ranger, necro was better than him. Maybe there’s just bigger chance that player who main different class will be better, dunno xD rangers are phenomenon for me

There are instances where people specifically ask for classes, which is their right. If someone asks for a warrior respect that. OR a guardian, or a mesmer or ele….

The only time I would kick a person, and I play Ranger and Warrior equally nowadays is if you are not running spotter and frost spirit and you are an only Ranger in the party. If you just use GS in melee its fine. You can be soldier or knights for all I care. Unless its a specified speed run then there are certain expectations to be met.

It’s a fact that it is very easy to suck on ranger. Plus, classes that seem ranged and have pets, lure many people to play. (Thanks WoW!..)

While I don’t pug with rangers because I mostly play on my ranger, and 2 rangers are a waste of spot, when I’m on alts and rangers join my group, I ask them/tell them to use sword, or at least greatsword, and spotter/FS. If they say no, I kick them. If I see them staying at 1.5 range pewpewing, I kick them.

I don’t hate the class, but I hate carrying people that won’t even bother spend 3 minutes to google “good ranger dps build for dungeons”

Another way to look at it: A team of 4 experts that can’t suffer a beginner is really a team of 5 beginners. Anyone who is only half decent should be able to carry a beginner or two with minimal effort and loss of time. You’ll spend more time kicking that one beginner and adding a new person than you’ll waste with said beginner…. Unless you are novice.

I can say that i have ever been kicked for a group but that my have some to do with the fact that i play in a non prim timezone.

Its a noob class, in that it attracts noobs. Nothing you can do about that.

There’s nothing wrong with you, it’s the people. I cannot believe how so many individuals can be so stupid and ignorant – majority of PUGs I’ve run with so far clearly prove it. People don’t even think, they just go on doing what they are used to and completely ignore any changes to the game.
Not only hatred for rangers persists, but also eles keep summoning FGS’s before every boss and previously superior tactics (even though now they are useless) are still being used. It’s like the patch never came out if you look at what people do, except that the results are significantly different.

Ranger is great in pve and pvp after last pack,

Anyone still think it is bad, should go and hide under rock.

Because they are stupid and ignorant.
